They never subbed the original. The only thing got an official American release was the 90's remake OVA (Casshan: The Robot Hunter) and the live action movie (Good movie but has almost nothing to do with Casshern at all.) I myself would prefer to watch the very original first before watching this. That way, I can better appreciate this version.

I was reminded of Galaxy Express 999 from what I've seen of this so far. The theme about "living because you can die" philosophy is so much like what they said in GE 999.

Finally a voice of reason among the rest. And yes, the whole "finding a meaning of life in a land of ruins" has a charm in itself.

This anime's art style and theme reminds me more of Kino no Tabi.

Funnily enough, the first human we see is more amicable then most of the robots we've seen.

No, this is a complete stand-alone production with nothing to do about the 2004 live-action movie.

The "neo-human" in Neo-Human Casshern(1973) refers to the cyborg Casshern himself, where as the neo-humans in the 2004 live-action movie refer to the born-again humans when the lightning bolt struck the genome-pool.

Don't just look at the content, and try to understand by reading the whole picture. The information you referred to only outlined that this series is an original anime adaptation of the 1973 classic, just like the 2004 live-action movie was an original live-action adaptation for the 30th anniversary special.

Loved the entire series. So far, it's 10/10. The story is interesting, and the animation is awesome, especially in the first episode where Casshern demolishes the robots. The whole thing kind of has a nostalgic and dark tone to it - maybe that's why I like it so much?

My other problem with the movie: he never wore the helmet. Just look at that poster and you'll see what I mean. In the movie: they just briefly showed it and then it got destroyed. I mean, how could they take out the one thing that is so significant to his image?

Anyway, did anyone see episode 3 yet? That Akoes guy made some good points.

Akoes sure drove the nail to the point when he mentioned about human's contradictory character. And as for the movie, I'm just guessing here, but maybe the producer wanted to feature the actor's fine hair in the movie?

Both of those are good points. I also liked what he said about how moping about your past won't make the sin go away.

"I made many mistakes in my life... but that doesn't mean i gotta blame myself for those mistake and be stagnant or just run away and never face it or accept the fact that the world is moving forward and your not.

its like an ironic event.

Sometimes we don't know what we've done until someone tells us that we're wrong. Making mistakes is HUMAN NATURE.

Just like the environment around us... Earthquakes, Storms, Tornadoes, Volcanoes erupting... all these natural events are caused by MOTHER NATURE and we cant prevent it.

The world moves forward and so... why can't we?"

That's how i elaborate and understand what Akoes said about life. ^_^

I love this series even though I've never seen the Neohuman-Casshern 1973 version. This series has a really dark tone to it and plus the action and drawing are just simply amazing. I think I'll go check out the 1973 version while I'm waiting for the release of ep 4.
