Um, the last time I checked, entertainment usually keeps people sane.

Depends if the person is emotionally disturbed and how bad it is, I am serious by the way, it all comes down to how the person views the world and perceives things, plus how they can deal with situations on a emotional basis. I pose this question do you feed things into a person who is already messed up things that are even worse?? alot of parents are still naive to this notion...as we all notice how many people are medicated now by people who don't deal with emotion themselves rationally.

Not this again. In the unholy name of James Thompson, games does not make you evil, nor do they make you violent, antisocial or in any other way "wierd".

The only reason why games are continuously brought up in a case of mass murder such as the recent tragedy in the US and the massacre in Oslo 18 months ago, is because the perpetrator PLAYED GAMES. My my, it's clearly the fault of the games! Let us completely disregard the fact that there are millions of people playing the same games and are NOT mass murdering psycopaths.

Media uses gaming as a scapegoat since it's the "newest" form of entertainment. If you look back into the past you can see the same trends. TV was bad. The VCR was assumingly going to destroy the cinemas since now people could watch movies in their own homes. GASP. SHOCK AND HORROR. Did it happen? No. It's just the human way of saying that what they don't know is horrible and is responsible for everything that is wrong at the time. That is way easier than looking for the real issue. The real emotional trigger that made these prepetrators commit these heinous crimes. Sure, a violent game might be the final piece a chain that finally explodes, but it most certainly doesn't originate there. We need to look into childhood, abuse, bullying, any other form of mental disorder before yelling from the rooftops: ITS THOSE BLOODY VIDEOGAMES AGAIN!

We need to get rid of these old farts that run these outdated pieces of media. They only write about this to sell. They most likely know that the average Joe will buy into this bullshit and believe it "because the media says so". No, this is complete bullshit. I'm sick and tired of media trying to call my main hobby a massmurdering production factory. I've played maybe all genres of games out there and yet I don't go and kill people. If people just used common sense more often we wouldn't have this conversation right now.

It's been established that it can be a factor, but come on if video games do effect a person like negativly like that they probably have a whole lot more in their life going on then just violent video games
