Adding the number of toddlers with 30-60-years-old people who grew up reading Sazae-san/ 30-50-years-old people who grew up reading GeGeGe no Kitaro (and still watching the anime until now), and considering that "otaku" isn't as common as depicted in anime, I got a fairly reasonable rating for those shows. |

Japans taste in anime and other countries taste in anime is completely different. What some may find epic Japan labels as failure. Also the tops are anime that have been aired for a long time and still are on. In other words larger fan grouping because of the years the animes been on air..

Even though the rating is somewhat reasonable, you don't have to believe it... After all, it looks like the thread starter took the data just from a bulletin board... -_- |

Somehow, I think it's legitimate... the number of teenagers watching tv is definitely lower than kids cos they prolly have other things to do than watch anime.. and kids love cartoons and are able to watch them. I doubt the population of anime otakus is going to beat the number of kids around in Japan. |

A lot of the good animes up there have low ratings...This shows that the people watching on Japanese Anime TV have different tastes than us
EDIT: I am not going to believe these ratings. But thanks for sharing them anyway. Just check animenewsnetwork, this is Sazae-san. http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=870 No Summary....unknown anime....I also cannot believe Code Geass has such low ratings too! |

No wonder the ratings is so low for Natsume Yuujinchou! It's such a nice anime, but if I have to wake up 3am just to watch it, I wouldn't do it! And who the heck is awake at 3am?!?! Kids are suppose to be asleep at 3am! |

The way they get these numbers is by getting people a small sample of the population to write in a diary what they watch every day.
Then based on their sample size, they multiply it to the scale of the population, and put out a figure. It's not like peoples Cable TV boxes are sending signals to the companies computers counting how many people tune in at once. There's also no way to do such a thing with standard free television. All the times you hear "<number> million people tuned in/were watching" etc...it's still all based on the survey method. |

well just think about it..this rank just show the percentage of people who watch the programmes on tv..most watch them in internet..and there is no way you can really rank it perfectly..just consider it, where do you find the time to watch most of the anime in tv(some are aired too early, some too late at night)..in many cases the best anime are aired at the same time in different channels..and you would want to watch every second of it..while waste your time watching it on tv..when you can watch it in internet?
..even konata from lucky star does it and considering how this anime is,that means most of the japanese do so |
