--------------------------------------Bokurano--------------------------------------
(A translation would be "Us" or "We" )
Genre: Horror, Psychological, Mecha, Science Fiction.

A long running manga by the mangaka Mohiro Kitoh, also the creator or Shadow Star, was made into an anime with an incredible opening and opening song, and the plot to back it up. The creators include Kenichi Konishi(FLCL, Ghost in the shell, Mononoke no Hime, Spirited away, etc.) and many makers who i had not heard of before.
The sad thing is that it was produced by Gonzo, so there is no guarantee of its qualty later on, but as it is now i see it becoming epic.
Translators are Triad.

Anyway thats just my opinion, and go ahead: http://www.crunchyroll.com/showseries?id=2866
Or for better quality, look it up on Isohunt.com

My top anime of 2007.(unless Evangelion Rebuild can trump this one)
Enjoy.

Definitely worth watching. The opening song is very catchy too. Though i heard that the director of the anime didn't like the original story and wanted to change it to save the children instead. Oh well, i suppose it would become less depressing.

Edit ~ does anyone know whats happened to the subbing of this, it seems to have stalled for a while now and damn it was at a cliffhanger too. It's been brilliant so far, totally underrated, hardly been a discussion on it too.....more people should watch!! >.<

Edit ~ Yay! 3 episodes out in one day, lovely!
Saw ep14-16 and it was fantastic, so many secrets and sheer drama. Each time a kid dies i cry! so sad. *spoiler* I was surprised at the bland kid, Kirie was awesome controlling the robot with nifty moves and smart to figure out Machi....wow she's from another planet?! And Ushiro's real mom was quite a shock too. Pure awesomeness :)

Another Edit lol:

WTF?! it's been licensed by Funimation already?! Damn they move quick!......i feel sad now i wanted to watch it but now i'll have to go elsewhere to get my fix......*sniff* T_T

oh damn forgot to edit the my last post above, oh well.....

wah?! no one else discussing this brilliant series apart from me?

Finished watching the last episode the other day and all i can say is it's completely AWESOME series from start to finish with such powerful drama that i have lost count how many times i have cried buckets. The ending was a nice tribute to the kids. Excellant heartstopping stuff. I heard the manga is even better and slightly different ending but it didn't matter too much. A definite contender for best anime 2007

Ahh, I just finished it and I must say, this was the first time I cried over an anime like that. Just couldn't stop. Ushiro had really gotten to me in the end.

I really liked Bokurano, though I was a bit irritated by the whole technology-stuff.

But besides that this anime was great. Sad and depressing (and a bit philosophical as well, because of the whole issue of what is important in life, and what individuals have that, to them, is worth fighting for), but in a somehow good way.

And could someone please explain one thing to me?

Uninstall Uninstall .. The OP song is really fuckwin as well as the manga.
The overall concept is great. All kids have a tragic experience of life and surely a depressing and sad one but the worst part is they must fight the enemies in order to protect the world and destined to die in exchange...

Also I wouldn't bother to watch the anime because it's LOL GONZO, I read the manga instead.

Oh you've done it now!

I'm going to eat you. And make a necklace of your bones, because you are a worthless punk who did not learn a thing by watching that masterpiece. uninstall the memories from your mind right now.

Bokurano >>> 2007.

And it's now my 2nd fav Mecha/Psychological.

Evangelion, Saikano, FLCL, 0080 Gundam, Tengen Toppen, Chobits(manga) Gantz prove stiff competition, but it's so genuinely superb, it goes right up there.

EVERYBODY has to watch this. no more wussing out, Evangelion and Saikano have buffered us enough.

And the ending is not too bitter for a bittersweet one, it's so down to earth you'll think you were watching a different show. Truly perfect.

You bastard, I kept you up to date on Rebuild and you let me see this gem a year later! No mail, no shout-out, no nothing. You just roll over in your own giddy and forget all about your Messiah.

Hope you die in a hole.

I think it appropriately means "Our", not "we" or "us". They together own Zearth by bloodright and inversely their own denouement.

I hadn't cried since Saikano and this simply gave me a new range of emotions to cry for. Have you ever cried because of someone else's achievements?
It was like watching a baby learn to walk and be at it's funeral at the same time.
