Racial stereotyping in specific decades in film is pretty awesome. I love film school. You could even talk about the history of people assuming the role of controversial actor replacement to fit social norms. Theres blackface, yellowface, cross dressing, etc.

Racism, classism, prejudice, opression and conflict are always exciting times. I suggest picking something you have an interest in and finding out what challenges, complicates, or defines it. Look for trouble and ye shall find it.

I suggest that once you've decided on a topic, you find a sociologist who was known for writing works regarding the subject. Most social theories, or at least the most popular ones I know about society and the structure of bureaucratic systems is Max Weber - many of his theories form the backbone of many social systems, and his works may make a good basis for much of your research.
