Great...Now the masses will think Hollywood made them first...Why can't they accept foreign films as they are? Are they too racist to accept that some foreign films are just better?

Holywood is soooo overrated. Not surprised how they can turn a movie gem into a sparkling piece of trash.

u know...sometimes...when a movie is americanized it ain't that bad...sheesh...like that movie "Shall we Dance?" it was originally a japanese movie, when I watched it was cute but it just a little boring...THEN BANG!! "Shall we Dance?" becomes Americanized w/ Richard GERE and Jennifer Lopez it was EVEN BETTER....i will admit horror movies are a major downfall xP....Americans are better at being funny than scary. My Sassy Girl is on my list to watch in becoming AMericanized

Where did you hear about those three? =/
Various places, such as

- 'Sales' at http://www.donedealpro.com
- e-newsletter from Scenario Writers' Guild of Japan (http://www.writersguild.or.jp/index.html / ENG: http://www.writersguild.or.jp)
- Writers' Guild of Great Britain
- WCA
etc.

I'm not a writer. I'm more interested in the legal aspect of script sales and adaptations.

well about the departed and infernal affairs thats pretty retarded though. I mean i watched on the oscars as scorsese went up to get his oscar for best picture. It was so retarded yea on the oscars only did they say like it was adapted from the movie infernal affairs, but if anyone noticed they said it was a japanese movie. For a second i thought.. wait.. was there a japanese version before it was with tony and andy as a HK trilogy? but there isn't they didn't even credit it right and its annoying how he won an oscar for a movie that was already made somewhere else.

Okay, so the trash factory is buying it, but there's nothing you can do about it as long as the people who hold the copyright sell it, right?

Edit: Eww, imagine Audition american style, I thought the original wasn't really a masterpiece, but I'm sure Hollywood will turn it into some erotic thriller.

^ Er ... that is being shopped around as a possible remake.

Edit: well, not the live-action series. Live-action 'remake' of the anime version, I think. Will check if anyone's interested.

that impossible...how can they find a guy as hot as Oguri Shun....??? (lol)

omg so many babies you don't like americanized movies don't watch them no ones holding a gun to your head...and for the record if any one honestly liked Ju-on then I definitely don't trust your judgement in movies

1. it was extremely boring I found nothing scary about it
2. it was dragged out for no reason
3. I wanted to shoot that little boy if he meowed one more time, we got it ur dead whoopi

I enjoyed the american remake of this film

I liked the orig shall we dance compared to the american version

I enjoyed the orig ring more then the american version but both good movies I guess...

and like catex said I completely agree Films are remade all the time countries putting their own twist on things and making it more relatable to their own countries, it does bring films no one would have known about to light b/c when the american version of a film comes out they start to show the japanese versions on tv

also sometimes the orgi creators are there with the americans vice versa and putting their input in, so if they are happy with it I really dont see why anyone would be complaining considering its their baby in the first place...

hah...its not like once they remake it ur beloved version become unavailable and they don't claim it as their own, its not their job to do the research for other ppl, and it would be illegal to say the idea was theirs anyway...

A lot of ppl just like to sound smart with their friends like "You know thats a remake of so and so film, yeah I've seen the original and this one did nothing for me"
Posted 6/18/07
^It may not be illegal. I just think it's pathedic, that they can't come up with their own movie idea. It's uncreative, unoriginal. I want more original stuff, or atleast see the attempt of movie makers creating something original.
