Asia... i mean mostly korea and japan... knows how to make money off of boybands. whereas, america finds it too time and money consuming. they don't have the range of variety shows that Asia has to provide enough gigs. let's face it, America likes independence, and individuals either make it or lose it, no sharing of glory. we all know who Justin Timberlake is, wat happen to the rest of Nsync?? yeah, we found out Lance was gay and there was Joey's shortlived acting career.

I find that Koreans hardly come to the states, i don't know why (politics?). wish i lived somewhere in Asia so i could catch some good boyband concerts...

music is different in west and east

in asia, fangirls love pretty boys who can't even sing well!!

in america, fangirls moved past boybands into solo artists for their talent, rather than looks

plus i cant bear western music~their all almost the same~~~n again that's just my opinion

If America was introduced to Asian boybands, they'd think "gay boys".
Look at NSync and the Backstreet Boys. :|
America = rap/hip hop/r&b

Completely different genre.

Its because they are glorified models...who like gay. Boy bands started off in England, moved to the States and thank fuck they got over it. Now we have to deal with monotone, talentless rappers who plagerise from bigger and better bands and shoot each other over their lame images. You get people like Kanye West screaming cause he didn't win a grammy. Jeez,

I think asian boy bands are more talented, their songs are always catchy and they assume to be cute whereas in occidental countries they always want to break what people think of them like "i'm not cute and nice, i'm a viril man" yeah maybe.. haha.
Well, in Asia people can relax it seems, whereas here they always want to be "uncriticable"

Because in America, the boyband era is over. Remember Nsync and Backstreet Boys? Well in Asia, boy bands didn't really begin/dominate until recently. Right now in America, techno is the rave. You can see all sorts of artists incorporating techno elements into their songs..e.g. Disturbia, Forever, etc.

I think it's because the pop era kind of died down from the 90s. That type of music isn't popular anymore it's either r&b or hip-hop over in the west. Pop music is still really popular in Asia though.

All I can say is: Thank God they're "out" in America.

Well, to me, (not to sound rude)
but japan and places do a lot of things that america does,
and so when we had "boy bands"
it later got cool, so they did it,
and when we got our scene/ emo kids
they got there j rock people
so they just copy.

J-rock (or should I specifically say Visual Kei style) has never been influenced by the emo/scene phenomenon..=___= its (visual kei) been around since the 80s (bands like X-Japan, Luna Sea..etc..i doubt anyone is copying anybody...

What the hell is with all these boyband threads? It's like we're trying to start a war or something XD

American now is wayyyy too occupied with hip hop, rap, RnB, and rock. They just can't accept boybands anymore because for them its "outdated" if any Asian countries tries to bring in a boy band at this moment...thats gonna cause some controversies :\

That's one good thing about the american music industry though. They don't rely ALL on looks, while looks play 80% of your fame in the asian music industry.

I agree with you, it seems that generally in America looks can get you to a certain point but at the end of the day we want to see personality and character and TALENT (im not saying all asian boybands lack these), we'll get bored if you are just a pretty face and will move one to the next best thing

..and to add what someone else has mentioned.. I think it all has to do with egos and who wants to be the centre of attention, that happens quite often amongst American boybands and unfortunately they have to break up. Hmm but I've always wondered why girl groups (American) are around much longer than their male counterparts?
