I think its because of the cultural differences. For example, Im a fan of DBSK but everytime i mention it, all the people arround me shout "they are totally gay, fake, ridiculous!" because of the way they act, talk, walk, etc

kaay , this is obvious . its because guys in the asian boybands are MUCH MORE GOOD LOOKING (:

Jrock isn't based from emo rock, to be correct it's based on the 80's rocker look where they all were more feminine, so you're misinformed in that aspect. Boy bands did start over here with the Beetles etc of course and that caused a trickle down effect ,but America 'copies' tons of stuff from Japan as well, like fashion, what is popular fashion over here is last season's style over there, so basically we all borrow and recycle from eachother. Keep in mind that nothing is original and everything goes through a social recycling bin and always gets reused. Implying that Japan is the only country copying is quite ignorant of you.

Well, because of cultural differences and the fact that many Americans are closed minded and won't accept something new. Because Asian boy bands have different looks and do different styles. That's why most people that don't know the band will assume they're gay. Like DBSK, they see Jae Joong and U-know all hugging or close w.e and automatically think they're gay, because it's new to them. If people would open their freaking minds more everything would be rainbows and unicorns.

We HAD boy bands.. The 90s was full of them, there was a new boy band everyday.. They started disappearing in the 2000s, when they all tried to pursue solo careers. So I'm gonna say they're out for money reasons. Boy bands means splitting the money, solo means getting ALL the money. I'd go solo too.

Examples are:
Justin Timberlake- uhh, forgot the name of the group. They made that bye bye bye song.
Jessie McCartney- Dream Street
Nick Carter- BackStreet Boys
Paul McCartney- Beatles
Gwen Stefani- I forgot the name of the band, but they made a few songs, but she wanted MONEY!!

boybands in japan started at around the 60s but they became super famous at around the 80s. that was around the same time as america's. right? and besides every trend now is just recycled from another trend in another country.

well, clearly boybands aren't out in America. I mean check out how many fans the Jonas guys have! They basically own the North American market for boybands and are making sooo much money because their is NO competition against them.
So what REALLY happend was that after groups like N'sync/BackstreetBoys broke up, their fans could deal because we grew up after that. But the youth of today had nobody like those groups to listen/idolize until the jonas bros. (i mean they can't really relate at all to the other music out there like Timberland and all) and now there might be a return of the boyband phase ~
hahaha wow that was some thorough answer there! hehehe srry for the rant XD

Well I don't know much and most of this is speculation but I'll just post up what I can summarize:

Boy bands in America died out due to several factors such as negative press (due to their favouritism by preteens, teens and dislike by many adults), lack of an equal fan base for members of each group, lack of cooperation by some, leading to a break up usually for creative differences or to start a solo career. American celebrities were (and still are but not so much in regards to music) much less personal to fans and the community in comparison to Asian celebrities (who appear on television gameshows).
American celebrities act differently from Asian celebrities due to the cultural difference of attitudes and opinions towards becoming a celebrity; most Americans tend to act professional and impersonal at public appearances (unless they're jobs are centered arounds comedy, then they will joke around on television interviews). Some feel that they have no reason to bring they're personal lives in with their jobs (it's their life). While Asian celebrities on the other hand are similar to American celebrities, but have a bit more freedom since they tend to act less reserved and show small personal traits which differentiate themselves from other celebrities in ways more than what they do professionally.
Also how media portrays celebrities is a large deciding factor as well. American celebrities always have to put up a front when on camera (unless they on breakdowns or during an emotional outburst) and most details of their lives are known through tidbits and gossip. Asian celebrities on the other hand are shown to be just as professional but they are able to connect more with their audiences and discuss or perform hobbies that they enjoy (most Americans merely mention them and press coverage it isn't widely known). Asian celebrities also do not usually restrict media coverage of their lives to the extent of those of American celebrities and rarely do they have television shows about their daily lives (that only goes to seperate fans from feeling close to their idols due to studios showing what they believe to be interesting/editing and that they do not always act as they normally due to the camera).
Boy bands haven't been making a large comeback due to America's music industry being more focused on solo artists (in regards to most genres but rock) and public opinion on boy bands. Most boy bands were considered bad by the press due to there mostly being high voiced young singers (many believed once their voices cracked they would fall out with their "shallow" target group) and because it was strange for them to have fans much older than them.

There are faults in music by rap, r&b, and boy band artists, somebody will always find fault with something. Rap music houses several problems such as most of the songs centering around violence, guns, sex, and drugs. Also due to the fact that some rap artists focus mainly on lyrics and not music resulting in a lack of harmony. R&B and boy bands can also be criticized though due to many of their songs centering around love (but then again many other genres do as well) and that some groups have a similar feel or style to their singing. Both music genres can be criticized for not being original, but everyone has a personal opinion, if the song is good regardless of what type it is then I'll listen to it.

personally i think its because asian boybands are way more appealing!
American boybands had quite ugly guys in it.[my opinion]
asian boybands have such hott guys in them that makes people more attracted them.
take dbsk as a fantastic example(:
although dbsk has actual talent to back them up with(:

omg i totally agree with you!!!!!!!!
and american boy bands tend to have differnet positions......not sure if im making sense.......like if there were 5 people in a american boy band, one person would be the drumer, one person would be lead, and the others would be back up singers.....so its like only one person gets all the glory...................and on the other hand asian boy band share the role of lead singers........to me personally i get bored if its one person singing through the whole song

ugh drums? no offense but mostly "rock bands" play drums, guitars etc.. xD
"boybands" are just guys that sing.....and to quote on what you said every group has a main person if you want to agree or not.
whether its asian or american.in most asian boybands to there are usually one person that gets the most glory or the is the fan favorite. When you said you get bored with one person singing a song i think you confused boybands and rock group wrong. every member of a boybands sings xD i think you mean the main vocalist or lead vocal.

Isn't there like a music timeline. Like the Discos were in the 60s, Rock 80s, etc. So I'm just guessing that Hip Hop, R&B is this periods main fame. I have to say, they're more into R&B more than Hip Hop now.

The boy band thing? Can't just regular bands count like rock bands? Hell, there's guys in there it's not like they have to wear makeup and pop out of the stage with dance moves. I have to say they just sell their looks. Probably only one person can sing from every group in Asia, the rest are just leftovers. NO OFFENSE. Just saying because I hate when some people discriminates America.

I sometimes even think that "boyband" shouldn't even be used as a genre. Kind of like cheer leading shouldn't be called a sport. It's just what I think -_-.

It's all about trends. Mainstream music is a consumable product. Once you've had enough you move on to the next big thing. Shallow reasoning as to why you like them is the main issue.
