This thread is misleading... enter it believing we will be talking about bad quality of animation but instead we're discussing the writers... anyway.

1. What do you think the new generation of WRITERS should steer clear of
Incredibly nice, stupid, loud main characters.
Predictable main characters... The ones that get angry and power up somehow when someone important to them dies. Getting angry and charging into fight an enemy in real life doesn't win battles or make you stronger. It gets you killed.

2. Some of the most original anime you have seen

I would definitely have to say Code Geass and Claymore are some of the most original anime I have seen... I could name more but these are best. Although Claymore has some angry power ups they are written into the story as being normal to the Claymores.

3. Some of the worst writing you have seen

Naruto, Bleach, and D Gray Man are just a few names of the many horribly written anime I have seen.

4. Should there be a petition to have so many cliche animes stop being produced?

Absolutely not. That would be the death of anime.. And we don't want that. Despite how horrible some anime can be due to cliche, that's the way anime is and that's the way it will stay. With time we would miss the old anime and want it back... Only those of us who love anime too much and watch it too often get sick of predictability and cliche.

5. Which cliche do you think should be put to rest. RIP.

Long live the cliche moments in anime we have all fallen in love with! Even if we don't want to believe it. :D

Please excuse any grammatical errors I made. I don't usually try to type like an intelligent human being. ^^

1. What you think the new generation animators should steer clear of
I think it's fine the way it is. There are things some of us is going to hate, but that doesn't mean others won't like it.

2. Some of the most original anime you have seen
The ones I think are original are the animes that are different from what I usually watch (which is shounen) is: Natsume Yuujinchou, Mushishi, and Gintama (lol, even though Gintama is full of parodies of other animes... what a paradox, ironic isn't it? )

3. Some of the worst writing you have seen.
None. If I don't like an anime, I usually don't watch the rest; therefore, I have no right calling it an anime with a bad plot, since I haven't seen enough of it to see where it's leading. Hearing about the rest of the anime doesn't count, so no one should be bashing an anime that they haven't suffered through at least 50% of it to see how it really is. You never know, sometimes anime gets better later

4. Should there be a petition to have so many cliche animes stop being produced?
No. Some people actually like it, so why take away another's joy just because some of us hate it?

5. Which cliche do you think should be put to rest. RIP:_____
zzzzzz There's always going to be cliches... always, in every anime, period. It's not a bad thing, really. If you hate it, turn it off

Agree.

I think Gintama is very original xD it's just so random and funny.... Impossible to not like it! (imho) I don't think there's anything wrong with cliches

1. What you think the new generation animators should steer clear of

Anything that over sexualizes underage characters. The panty shots of 14 year old girls and shota porn have to go.

2. Some of the most original anime you have seen

Ghost Hound (not Hunt, Hound), Ergo Proxy, Nabari No Ou, Noein,Last Exile, Natsume Yuugin Chou.

3. Some of the worst writing you have seen.

Strike Witches: UGH!

4. Should there be a petition to have so many cliche animes stop being produced?

Hopefully they will get the idea that the lack of viewers is THEIR fault.

5. Which cliche do you think should be put to rest. RIP:_____

I will name something else I would like to put to rest.

The idea that anime fans only like to watch dumb shows full of cute girls with either bouncing boobs or a taste for other women. I would like to see more intelligent anime series; and I would like to see some cute boys as well. I swear when I look at the previews for spring summer and fall anime this year I have seen like 2 guys and the rest were women.

Japanese animators have been forced to do some pretty horrible things to keep the anime industry alive. They toil constantly and painstakingly to give us the shows we crave. I just hope they find a way to keep going and not stress themselves out so hard that they decide to quit. They all deserve much more than they receive. Let us all support them the best we can, people.

Strike Witches: UGH!

The first point there I object to. I think younger characters should be sexualised, to an extent, real children that age are, not doing it to fictional ones is censorship.
The panty shots and excesive fanservice is more of an issue. I don't want to have to see a 8 year olds underware during a show, without there being some reason for that scene.

the strike witches comment, that is what happens when you make an anime of an artbook. :P

1. What you think the new generation animators should steer clear of
Intentionaly adding in tons of moe characters into a series, unless they can pull it off as a parody succesfully.
Having one or two characters have stereotypical moe features is barable soemtimes unaviodable (some people do have "ticks" or odd habits). Having four to possibly ten or twenty, with almost no male or otherwise non-moe characters is getting realy repetitive; especially with more visulal novel and eroge adaptations being made. You have to show every route, so it develops a lot of female lead characters, wheras the game would only focus on one (at a time), Clannad pulled it off better than most as is mostly just the Nagisa route.

2. Some of the most original anime you have seen
Mostly adaptations, but ones with things not normally done in anime.
Recently: Aoi Hana, real yuri (with no male love interest),
Haruhi (remember this is a parody to a large extent, the characters are supposed to be stereotypes) due to the chronlogy more than anything (airing out of order etc., endless eight.. *shudder* (at least they tried some thing new, lets hope they never do it again)),
Shigofumi, for the subject matter not too much moe considering style too. (doesn't shy away from showing victims of child abuse, including resulting mental trauma)

3. Some of the worst writing you have seen.
I tend to notice animation errors and style I dislike over how the writing is, and using a translation; not knowing japanese means I can't realy comment

4. Should there be a petition to have so many cliche animes stop being produced?

No they should realise on their own that they aren't producing enough original material.

5. Which cliche do you think should be put to rest. RIP:_____

Cliche is subjective, it's not a cliche the first time around, and can if used well not seem cliched (TTGL essentially set itself to systematically going through every robot (mecha) series cliche, and worked well)

Apologies for huge post
