Y are there such a HUGE difference between Syaoran n Watanuki?? i mean, come on, they r from the same perfect genes.....
Yet, Syaoran is soo cute... n maybe handsome
look at them both.... n to think tt watanuki is actually made to be a "dupicate" of syaoran.... sigh, haha.... such tragic....

I think Watanuki isn't really made to appeal to girls (although hes very responsible and cooks well). He's more the "average Japanese guy can relate to" type character. Most of clamps other characters are made to appeal to girls, since that's who clamps main target audience is. XxxHolic on the other hand is a lot less girly than their other works.

Watanuki's got girl issues, and doesn't think thoroughly of his romance. But the latest chapters of TRC, Syaoran (younger) has all these memories of Sakura and is willing to sacrifice all for her.

TRC is Shonen
xxxholic is Seinen.

I actually like Watanuki better! He's so funny and is pretty goodlooking when he takes off those dorky glasses. Syaoran's good looking all right, but his personalitiy's so dull- and all those "I'll do whatever it takes" for Sakura are swt at first but become overly sappy and overredundant as he repeats himself over and over again. The manga explained why they are so different: Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide Their parents splitted Syaoran or their child into two and named the other child Watanuki. By making the two of them extremely different, it prevents Fei Wong from getting hold of Watanuki...so in a way that somehow protects their children. Watanuki's presence I guess is a safe-keeping for Syaoran I guess. |

no. It just means that Syaoran would have a much more shonen-y actiony character while Watanuki would have a more mellow character

me too! i thought it is shoujo but when i saw it is shounen i thought that maybe it makes a lot of sense because there's a lot of fight scenes too i guess....and i thought it is shoujo before because of the romance part hihi
