Hey guys...the other day I was waiting at the train station and I saw these girls wearing Harajuku lolita type of dresses. See.. I live in America. So I don't get to see those things often. But, I couldn't help but compare the girls at the train station with the Japanese girls I see wear Harajuku in Japan. I thought those girls wearing the harajuku dresses at the train station looked awful, they were not as cute as those in Japan. I just thought they looked silly. I think Harajuku should stay in Japan and should not be worn here in America. I think Harajuku should be left to the Japanese. What do you guys think? *If there's already a thread on this topic, just notify the mods!*

As with any style of dress, the clothes should be flattering on the figure that's wearing it. Harajuku demands a certain boy type as well as a certain attitude to carry it off as well as an environment where it would be accepted. I think exporting the look is best done the way we export all signature looks from certain cultures: a litlle bit at a time. 2 rules of thumb that exist in the fashion world are the sayings "Less is More" and "A Little Goes a Long Way"....

It just depends on the person wearing the style...if you don't live in japan and it suits you, why not?

Of course not!!!!!!

Does European fashions stayed only in Europe? NO.

So, why the rest of the world cannot try it?

that's being kind of xenophobic, not allowing someone from other culture try to experiment something good about other culture.

So, I'm going to Baby, the Stars Shine Bright to buy the cutest lolita dress I could find.

BTW, I'm latin american; so, I have some asian traits (like my pale/yellowish skin; but the eyes are almond shape and my hair is curly). I woudn't look that out of place with Harajuku fashion.

To me? they look the same. Asiasn buy the more expensive lolitas, so of course they look better, but in terms of style and attitude, they're the same for me.
