Shut the fuck up, get off of your shitty Windows PC and work out if you're over weight.

As well, no one cares. Haha.

Well, the world may stop when you die of a heart attack (for you at least)... weight is not just about image, it's about health as well.

And the world does stop for personal appearance. As sad as it is, people judge by appearance (particularly women). Unfair? Sure. But that doesn't change the reality of the situation. We judge by what we see. When you see someone who is significantly overweight, you tend to assume there is a lack of self control present. That may not be the cause, but it is the impression people are given. Now, if that's the impression people get, how do you think that translate into your professional or personal life?

Health is a huge issue as well. I have a severely obese aunt and she is probably going to die 30 years early because of her weight problems. That's not even taking into account your quality of life, just the quantity.

I used to be significantly overweight and I lost about 50 lbs and honestly, I was a lot happier with myself and healthier. I still could stand to lose some more (and once finals end I'll get started on that), but it was a great feeling when my old clothes didn't fit anymore without a belt...

If anything, weight is an underrated thing here in america.

Wasn't this to be an opinion thread? Then again this little incident must be your fine example of life's overrated because it's not really a neat package.

Hollywood cinema.

But I'm not saying all of it. There are some that are really good, but a majority of their movies portray shallow values that are just... well, a waste of time.

Many of the great movies are hardly given much appreciation, and most of them are indie. sigh...

I agree..im only 5 lbs lighter than you and i think i look ffantastic!....but on a more serious note...im pretty fucking shallow

What do i think is overrated....Starbucks....coffee is overpriced...it taste fairly lackluster compared to some more out of the way coffee shops because theyre to concerned with mass producing while the smaller places make sure their coffee taste excellent because its all they have to go on.

The oscars are overrated. Back in the days of Frank Capra, they didn't give them out every year for every category because some years the movies weren't good enough.

Stephen Segal is totally overrated. Pauly Shore is a better actor than he is. Big Bird is more badass and can do more realistic looking stunts than Stephen Segal.

France is overrated. People think wearing that raspberry beret is hip; I cannot give justice in words to how stupid I think it looks. I guess upper class snobs feel the need to network with each other all around the world and get in that spring break in Paris. Barf-o-rama.

Vince Vaughn is overrated. I'm not sure that he can act, but rather that he can memorize lines and be a douchebag on command. I'm still not convinced a chimp in a tuxedo couldn't replace him in every role he has ever been cast and delivered the same caliber performance. Him and about half of hollywood just get recycled and recast as the same characters over and over again.

I'm calling bullshit on those. The ones I bolded are not overrated, it just shows a lack of taste.

Casablanca is a classic through and through. I gurantee 99% of the people on this board haven't seen it. Less than half have even heard of it (at best). A great movie that's being forgotten by the current generation is hard to call overrated.

Gone With The Wind is an incredibly epic film, particularly for when it was released. I can understand fans of the book being upset with it... but I greatly suspect you're not one of them.

LOTR? WTF? are you crazy? Somebody takes one of the biggest Geek epics of all time, does it right with an obscenely large budget, it's successfull, gives the story and author the attention they deserved for a long time, and you think it's overrated?

The first Star Wars movies were great.. particularly Empire. Generation defining classics. The last three were lousy though.

Private Ryan + Schindler's List - it's important that realistic war movies like these are made because people are continually trying to rewrite history. The opening of Private Ryan brought D-Day veterans to tears due to it's realism. Yeah the story is pretty hokey after that, but the movie is gold just for that opening. Schindler's List is a damned inmportant film. There are alot of people out there insisting the Holocaust never happened. Anything that can convey the severity of what happened then to such a large audience most certainly isn't overrated. Now, a lot of the cheap holocaust movies after that trying to cash in on those sympathies are overrated, but Schindler's List was the first, and a trully groundbreaking film.

300... eh, it was hyped out the ass, but I think it's plenty good enough to deserve it. It's reviews have been terrible so it's hard to call it overrated. anymore. I love it just because it is so obscenely masculine and politically incorrect in this day and age were men are forced to behave as whipped mules. It's racist, anti-gay, violent, militaristic, anti-religous and glorious through and through.

Lost in Translation - if you've spent time traveling abroad this film will make sense to you. If you haven't, it won't. The strange temporary relationships you form in bizarre and alien lands. Sometimes people from the most different backgrounds sharing only a common language can become fast friends under the right circumstances. This movie really demonstrates that, more than any movie I've seen.

Your list seems to be a list of popular films you don't like... not genuinely overrated films.

Catex, I gotta give you sh** about your movie list, too. The only films I can't defend on your list are ones I haven't seen. A lot of films you put on there were important at the time and stepping stones into new sub-genres. I'll only give you about five of those movies you listed. And you clumped together trilogies inappropriately, seeing that some parts of them were more deserving of praise than others. (you are holding the first and third matrix under the same light, and putting Empire Strikes Back next to The Ewok Adventure. All the film geeks are crying!)
