Do You Mean Chinese Or Taiwanese.
Cuz Aren't They Kinda Different?

well actually ppl refer to them as the same
for example
if u say ur chinese
someone will ask something like
hong kong, taiwanese, or macau region
theyre all considered china
and i think taiwan wasnt even allowed to represent itself in the UN
cuz it was considered china

Haha such a long ranting post. People can ignore this... ^^; If you really want to read my response, click the spoiler thing....

I feel so SAD that most if not all Taiwanese singers and bands are listed as "chinese" singers/bands on this forum.
I hope you guys can see a logic here: Not all taiwanese are chinese. Taiwan just seems to be a "chinese" nation because a nationalist chinese government (a minority in taiwan) took control of taiwan. Hence the majority of the people in taiwan had to learn "traditional chinese" stuff, yet just because they learn "tradtional chinese" stuff doesn't mean they became chinese. I see it as the "tradtional chinese" culture has been embedded and become a part of the taiwanese culture just as taiwanese culture also includes some japanese culture.

If you are talking about language; it's not even correct, it's mandarin.

The puerto rico analogy (nice try) but that's not correct. You don't need a U.S. passport to go to puerto rico; you don't need a chinese passport to go to hong kong or macau; however you need a chinese passport to go to taiwan. So what does that mean? puerto rico is U.S. territory; hong kong and macau are china territory whereas taiwan is NOT a china territory.

(Long story short) Taiwan is not in UN because China threatens to cut trading, relation etc with other nations who recognize taiwan as a legitimate nation. And of course cutting ties with China will threaten their nation's economy or what nots; hence, based on their own selfish national interest, taiwan didn't get enough vote to be in the UN.

and please, Taiwan IS NOT part of China. This is getting ridiculous~ But i'm not surprised.. sigh~
