Yes, it certainly it is f2p.. And, unless you have a dance pad, you're pretty much stuck to playing it with your trusty keyboard. However, using the keyboard to play has its numerous advantages as well..

I can do 15-footers with the keyboard, and, I frankly don't think pad players can match that..

Omg, I finally can load stepmania..Duh'Oh.

You'd be surprised at ITG Gods, but then again songs with insane number of jumps are impossible on dancepad. People have passed songs such as One More Lovely and Beyond Abilities V2 on dancepad before.

When I first started playing I played one handed (index,middle and ring). After about a year or so, I decided to switch to two hands. After about 1-2 weeks I got good with two hands and continued to keep that as my default playing style.

My current playing styles:

One Hand (Right Index, Middle and Ring fingers)
Indexing (Right Middle and Left Index)
Three Fingers (Right Middle and Index, and Left Index)
Spread (Right Index and Middle, Left Index and Middle)

Highly recommended to play Index or Spread.

One Hand = Carpal Tunnel

Nice program.. can create own notes, background , song..

But hope more improvement on the note graphic..

I love stepmania during my freetime. I make simfiles so if you want to try them post on my guestbook they're good ones and you won't be sorry ;D. I plan to send them to otaku's dream or something later so the public can enjoy them as much as my friends do So far I have two completed and two in the making.

Oh, I seriously got minor carpal tunnel once. I had an arm workout right before playing and it hurt real bad for about a day and a half.

does anyone play the pump version of stepmania? x_x?

yeah, I play with one hand ALOT, cause I can't simulate the legs with my two indexes...
yeah, Carpal Tunnel syndrome...already have it, every time I move my wrist, "click" and "clack" and I have to wear a brace all the time :\
