Nope it's just that a lot of the songs are messed up when it comes to matching paces beats tempo etc
And a lot of the song choices are poor
And you can't use a controller >.<

Uh, there are many song choices, you're just really lazy and don't search around for them.

I never really felt like I should take the time and keep searching and searching for sites with songs that I like simply because I never really liked the game in the first place, repetitive, boring, and for those 3 reasons fails in my opinion

How is it, "repetitive", and "boring". I believe you haven't played every stepchart out there, yet you already come to conclusion that, it's really "repetitive" and "boring". You probably think it's boring because you're not very good at it, and you probably think it's repetitive because you download songs from the stepmania site.

Since when do you have to play WASD all the time? Many people play with the arrow keys or spread(ASKL). How does playing with the keys make it repetitive you fool. That means Guitar Hero, Dance Dance Revolution, In the Groove 2, are very repetitive because it's basically the same as Stepmania. Please get some knowledge before you say something because it's not repetitive unless you play a stepchart that is really repetitive.

Well, the stepfile's artists probably don't know how to properly layer files therefore the file's quality drops significantly. Every song has distinct rhythms that require a good ear to hear, so the steps actually do go to something but you may not hear it clearly. But this varies between stepfile artists since everyone steps things differently.



Actually, there are countless stepfiles out there. A lot of which are of popular up -to-date songs and singles from mvarious artists worldwide so it's not very hard to find at least one person that has stepped a song you like. Stepfile artists tend to choose songs that would make either high quality or difficult charts, regardless of whether the song is their favourite or not.



Keyboard response time > Controller response time.

Judging from that, I'm guessing you play Guitar Hero or Rock Band. You do realize that you can keymap your keyboard, right? You don't have to play on the defaulted arrow keys forever. You can play on any set of keys you want. Since I'm guessing you play Guitar Hero/Rock Band, change your keymapping to F1-F2-F3-F4 so you can hold your keyboard like a controller. If you're not used to playing up scroll, change the scroll to reverse. If you're not used to the noteskins, download an Orbular noteskin.



Chances are, if the songs you like aren't known to the public (e.g. Underground artists/bands) or have a well developed fan base, you won't find a stepfile for their songs. And although it is true that people step awful song genres, the songs do appeal towards some people. And I'm tired of seeing some stepfile artists that don't learn when to stop stepping the same damn song that everyone else has done and even better.



Well opinions vary amongst people, however that doesn't give you an excuse to come into this thread and start debates like this. If you dislike the game, don't bother posting in the thread then. It's that simple.

1. A lot of the songs that I like are 50s-80s, so the fact that a lot of popular/up-to-date songs and singles from various artists worldwide doesn't help me at all.

2. I mentioned using a controller because I play around with a few emulators on my comp (P64, ZSNES, NNNESTERJ, etc) and I use my controller for all of them. It's quicker, and way more comfortable.

3. Like I said before, I never liked the game THAT MUCH to try a whole bunch of different ways of playing it.

4. Agreed that opinions vary amongst people, however, I'm pretty sure the OP asked anyone browsing the Games forum what they thought about Stepmania. It's not my fault that someone decided to reply to my post and start an argument. They, and you could've just ignored my post.
