i can only FC 9-11 step songs, an i've never gotten anything higher than a AA before, lol.
i heard that using the note skin makes it a little easier, is this true?
and what kind of speed mods do you guys use? i see some people play difficult songs at slow speeds, but it looks to confusing, lol.
is it better to play with a fast, or slow speed? im currently using c600.

Yeah using the note skin makes it alot easier imo, because you can see what beat to press alot easier compared to the default skin. Btw, how do you get c600 speed? do you have to download another theme or something?

Rofl, that means I do even better than you on dancepad if you were to play on keyboard. I can FC 9s, 10s, and a few 11s (pends on the song itself and stepchart) and pass 12s on dancepad.



Note skins make it easier to read and it tells you what kind of note it is (e.g. 8th, 16th, 24th, 32nd, etc.). I suggest you use them.

Playing on faster speeds also makes the step chart easier to read but don't select anything too fast for you to react to. Experiment with BPMs and you'll find the exact BPM range you find comfortable. Personally, on keyboard I can read up to 800 BPM. My comfort zone is between 600-700BPM. On dancepad, I can read up to 900BPM. Comfort zone is always around 700BPM.

And CMods are only helpful if you absolutely fail at life at constant BPM changing songs. Other than that, I don't recommend using Cmods.

Yes that qualifies as Spread. Funny, how you play the exact same way as I do whenever I play switch to spread. And yes, Index is one finger per hand.



I can FC 14-15 steps easily. AAA takes me a few attempts for them, maybe even whoring but I've done it before on several occasions. Anything lower than 14 step, is pretty much easy to AAA.

stepmania is fun for about 20 minutes then it is boring...

IMO Stepmania is boring..4 keys? No online feature.. Unless you know how to.. Pointless on keyboard, well because it is for your legs? lol DJMAX on the other hand 5 keys + online feature, with many good and hard songs. IIDX aka Beatmania on the other hand 7 keys + 1 turn table, which is 10 times harder than Stepmania. So If you were to play Stepmania, get a pad and if you were to play it with the keyboard, Play DJMAX or IIDX

But a lot of BemaniStyle's step charts are horrible.

SM entertains me since I always play around 14 step. I average around 30 minutes each time I decide to play it, because I'm always tempted to raise my scores. I have about... 350 stepfiles and I've played only a good half of the songs and about a quarter of that are already AAAed. FFR, never seems to bore me, even though I can't AAA for shit on it.

Regardless of a lot of people's opinions here, SM is entertaining in small doses for the average person. For more serious players like me, it can provide endless entertainment.

It's easier than IIDX and all those other rhythmic gaming that require more than 4 keys, but the challenge of mastering or at least getting mediocre at those games are a bitch, and takes time.

I've gotten pretty good at this game along with DJMAX and Beatmania IIDX simulators.

StepMania is God, Well maybe. :]
