All other jap supercars weighed over 3000 at the time. Back in the mid 90's we had a racing series called Motorola Cup.Stock sportscars,stripped out interiors,and straightpipes.ONLY the rx7's,and the Pontiac Trans-Ams would hit 175 at Daytona!!! Those were the days my friends..........

Offline	Permalink Reply Quote Posted 10/21/08 at 280HP, the RX7 FD3S is still one of the highest grade drift competition cars out there. It's weight distribution is excelent because the motor is pretty much in the middle of the car and could count (in my opinion) as an MR rather than an FR. The FC3S is what I feel to be a very good looking car from it's time, also sporting a rather powerfull 204HP engine. I also have a rather soft spot for the RX7 SA22C because it was the first rotary and first FR that I ever drove. I also learned how to do donuts and got the basics of drifting in this car. Rotary engines are a great invention and I Really do like the sound of their extremely high revs. I only hope that one day, they give up on the RX8 (a good car, but one of mazda biggest blunders) and do a remake of the RX7 FD3S. Maybe they'll call it the FE3S (just a guess).

RyoAkamatsu 318 cr points Send Message: 22 / M / SanJose Offline	Permalink Reply Quote Posted 10/21/08, edited 10/22/08 Man i Love rotarys but sadly it's takes alot to make it fast with very low torque what so ever and the fact of the matter is... the rotary isnt anything without a turbo (no a 3 rotor or 4 rotor) but anywho I love Rx-7's FD3S or FC3S and it's Light Godly light But like I said b4 no torque and i'm a Man who wants Torque. A another reason is that i used to have a Rx-7 anywho FC3S the one (as u can see my pix) but i sold it Cuz One it Killed GAS So bad...(I still Love u FC3S) and to maintain a Rotary cost SO Much money i mean alot.. like the seals for the axel and the Rotary Seals they burn so fast and it cost's so much like about ....300 dollers every 4 monthswithout sparkplug's motor oil and coolint (if ur down to race like me) but daily about 6-7 months. U gotta Gut and clean the seals and replace the housing almost everytime u change the seals. BUT If time and Money Ur Baby CAN FLY LIke a MTher F&^Ker~!!!!!!!!!!! hahaha Mines was About 250hp and ok torque. but in the touge It's godly smile* I still love her Now a Proud New Owner of a Nissan 240sx 1989 KA24DET greddy turbo 6 pis and a type S BOV will post pix later in the future

Rotarys can make some good power for such a small and light engine; plus they sound cool. They also get really hot and break a lot, which kind of sucks. They are expensive to maintain, but if you love racing enough to not care for the costs, its a great car. They handle really well.

I find it interesting actually, i hear its quite common to bung a LS type engine into these things. although front slightly heavy it must be a handful when u give it the beans!
