I like that idea a lot. If it's okay with the mods, I think it would be very helpful to the creators.

Alright here is my advice for the first amv posted. Hope it helps!

I already know how to make it better quality and full screen.
also some parts are out of sync and i now have the means to fix that.

any other advice would be appreciated!

eg. did the song fit or not. just giving u something to comment on lol

1.) Favorites:
First of all let me say that the level of emotion matched the series very well. I liked how you used lines directly from the anime and put it as background. This definitely heightened the emotion level. My favorite line is at 3:09, because this is near the culmination of the video. The music you chose fits the anime rather well, since it is actually from the series. Contrary to what others said, I thought the quality wasn't bad (when viewed in High Quality).

2.) Problems:
While the emotion level was great, there were some little things that distracted the viewers' attention and took away from the overall intensity of the amv. Some of these things include: Problems in sync (missed sync, ignored sync, pre-anticipated sync etc…), and too much dialogue. While I said earlier that the dialogue heightened the emotions, using too much of it made it seem a bit cheesy thus taking away the viewers attention from the emotions.

3.) Solutions:
The above problems are not difficult to fix. Mostly the solutions are self explanatory. For the sync, there is no easy solution except to go through and make sure that there is no unwanted movement(or lack thereof) in the video that distracts the viewers from the flow of the amv. This is the main goal of an editor. This does not mean that you have to match every beat like a boring machine, but just make sure that nothing sticks out or hinders the flow of the amv. The dialogue was great, but there was too much of it and some of the dialogue was placed at awkward moments in the song. I would suggest placing them in culminating parts of the music; like how you did in 3:09. This heightens and intensifies the emotional level of the amv. You did a good job on this amv, but if you keep working on the sync and flow of the amv, you will be even better! Good Luck.

4.) Opinion/Rank:
I would rank this amv around 82% (not bad, if it was a school assignment it would have been a B). I hope these suggestions will be helpful to you in your future amv efforts.

Although it's kind of old, this is the latest amv that I've made.
Anime: Samurai X OVA (Trust and Betrayal)
Music: Konayuki by: Remioromen

I would appreciate any suggestions on this amv. If you could please outline it as I did in my previous amv opinon, (by favorites, problems, solutions, and rank), I would appreciate it very much. Thanks.

Although, I myself need improvement, here's some of my thoughts.

1.) Favorites:
-To me a good amv is something that is not clouded with effects. Your amv had some nice effects but it didn't overpower the video. It was easy on the eyes, and allowed for the scenes to speak for themselves instead of just being a flashy show of editing effects and skills.
- It followed the melody and beats well. That's one of the main things for me as well... letting the song guide the video (i don't just mean the beats either... listening to lyrics, verse, chorus, etc).
-Good transition between scenes, it wasn't choppy.

2.) Problems:
- I'm sure you know this but, the subtitles are always a no-no. It distracts from the video and contradicts the song most of the time. It's not so apparent when it's a non English song but the distraction level is still there.
- around 2:07 Kenshin's screaming something in the video and goes along with the song. Because the rest of the video doesn't have lip syncing, this felt more like a random occurrence. I don't know if it was intentional.
- I didn't love the song, but it still seemed to go well with the scenes

3.) Solutions:
- I'm going to restate my previous recommendation as I realized it was the song lyrics and not the subs. hehe I wasn't reading the lyrics so I didn't realize it was actually what the guy was singing. However, I would recommend in this situation to have it more karaoke wise if you're going to put song lyrics... instead of having it look like subtitles. People who don't know Japanese could just see it, think it's subs and disregard the amv because of it (i usually dont watch an amv if there's subs hehe).

4.) Opinion/Rank:
I don't know what I would rank this video but I liked it a lot. Once I ignored the subtitles, I really enjoyed watching it. I love the Kenshin OVA and it made me a little sad to rewatch some of the scenes. I think editing wise you're doing a great job. There are just a few minor touch ups (that I mentioned) for it to be a perfect score for me.

3.) Solutions:
-I'd recommend either finding the English dubbed series, raws or cropping your videos to get rid of the subs.

4.) Opinion/Rank:
I don't know what I would rank this video but I liked it a lot. Once I ignored the subtitles, I really enjoyed watching it. First of all thank you so much for your opinion. Regarding the subtitles, I don't think you realized that I added it intentionally in order to translate the song. In other words the subs are not from the series, but in fact a direct translation of the song. If you ignored the subs the first time through, please view it again while paying attention to the subs. This should make the video more powerful. Thanks again.

all right lets do this!

(Favorites!)
--I'm not usually a huge fan of effects, but everything you used seemed to mesh pretty good.
--Excellent choice of anime >.>
--The pace was matched well with the story telling aspect of it.

(Problems!)
--Not so much a problem as it is a personal preference but subtitles are more of a hindrance than anything else(atleast in this case they were related to the actually amv.)
--Just as meowsa said, the clip at around 2:07 is a little awkward, when watching it, it syncs up with the vocalist but with the lack of any other lip syncing in the video it's just meh awkward.
--Some of the slow scenes seemed a little too slow in my opinion, giving it a choppy effect(granted it could be the streaming thats cause it.)

(Soluitons! The part where my opinion goes to crap lol)
--The subtitles in this case can't really be avoided, well they could be but that would take away from the actual video. Safe bet is to stick with langauges the audiance that is watching can understand.
--With the clip around 2:07, I'm not sure what I would do about that one since when going back and looking at it, it looks like it was a clip editted to be there.
-- With the slow scenes I'd see about not trying to stretch them for so long to keep it from looking too choppy.

(Rating!)
-- Well after it's all said and done I'd give it a 3.5/5. It's def rewatchable /shrug

Rahh, so here I am submitting one of my own before the firing squad D: Just to make it clear this is the rough draft and I'm currently still tweaking with it, but what's a better time to get an opinion than now?

Anime: Welcome to the NHK
Music: Set Sail by Scary Kids Scaring Kids

thanks for the youtube-ness!

I'll use the same format :

(Favorites!)
- I'm biased because NHK is just absolutely brilliant... so great choice in anime! AMVs often lack originality in that simple aspect haha... naruto, bleach, are good animes, but i don't watch amvs of them anymore... know what i mean?
- Smooth transition between scenes
- Timing with the song is good, beats & lyrics fit well.

(Problems!)
-- I had to rewatch it to find problems cuz first look, it seemed fine to me. Some might say the lack of effects, but I'm not a huge fan of effects and like this video for it's simplicity. But I'll just say that as of about 2:40+ the scene kinda runs a bit too long... i do that myself, sometimes... the ending is always the hardest for me to make... but I'll still add that it could have used a bit more action to wrap up the ending.

(Soluitons! The part where my opinion goes to crap lol)
-Like i said in problems about the ending... I know the ending of NHK is already powerful enough in a sense... but maybe editing it so that the running scene isn't as long... having it end with a bit more of a bang maybe?

(Rating!)
-- Really liked it... I haven't seen many NHK amvs thanks! I'd rewatch it.
