Pokemon is only fillers... nothing else... characters are stupid... simple plot... very childish...

Pokemon is probably one of the most overrated animes out there

Yeah, I agree with everyone...Naruto never ending filars, crapy dialog, stupid charackters, boring story.
Also Berserk - almost no dialog, bad art, boring story
Shakugan no Shana, Jigoku Shoujo - in every episode - the same thing again and again and again o.O
Hellsing...nothing actually happened in the series.Boring story...
Vampire Knight - uh....i've already seen this anime under few other names... @_@ banal story

All these animes are animes that I've heard a lot and thought that I'd like them, but I ended up bored and disappointed. Ppl've told me to watch them and that i'd def love them.... -_- Well they suck hard!

i dont think VAMPiRE KNiGHT is bad.it dosnt lack of any, it has originality. vk is very good for me.i dont know y u hate it that much but they say if u dont like an anime it means u do not appreciate its story. or maybe not ur type,,,but definitely i love it as other vk fans do. urghh wateverr that's all my opinion.

And isn't it my very own oppinion that VK is banal? :] I never said what I think is what everyone should think as well. I understand some of you could never understand why I think this way of these animes, but it's my oppinion, my personal taste, my type of animes....There are these animes I like and why I like them, and these ones I don't like and the reason I don't..... -_- So you don't have to ask me for every anime I said in my first post "How can you not like it, I don't understand/see why..." >.< Anyways it's useless...

My general list of identifying traits for a bad anime:

1. The series runs for over 50 eps but is made almost completely of fillers. Examples: Sailor Moon (face it, it was 95% filler and 5% plot, and the battles were all exactly the same in each season), Naruto, many magical girls, etc.

2. Clicheed main character. Examples include the ditzy, stupid, irritating female character (Ex. Sailor Moon, that-girl-from-Wedding-Peach-that-bothered-me-so-much-I-dropped-the-series, etc.); what I like to call the Typical Shounen Jump hero (TSJ), which is basically a main character with a seemingly infinite amount of energy at his disposal, but is such an utter moron he chan never use it properly (ex. Naruto (Naruto), Ichigo (Bleach), etc.), the "just a normal girl" main character that often seems to be the only "normal" one in the series (ex. Amu (Shugo Chara!), Ichigo (Tokyo Mew Mew (not Bleach :P)), etc.); and about a billion others I'm not willing to name.

3. Bad art/bad quality. Examples: http://www.crunchyroll.com/forumtopic-519/Poorly-Drawn-Anime-Scenes-Image-Intensive.html

4. Opening/ending theme is bad. I have never seen a bad anime opening. I've seen plenty where "meh" is puching it, but I've never seen a "bad" one. I've heard accounts from people who have, though, and let me tell you, it's not pretty.

5. Plot is misused. I never thought I'd be saying this, but Vampire Knight proved me wrong, Throughout the whole thing the plot is basically just a vessel for the cliche vampire love triangle. I might aswell shoot myself if I ever have to use this to describe another anime.

6. Bishounen love triangles. Usually, I love bishis and reversed harems (relax, I'm not an insane fangirl) but the love triangle card has been played one too many times. And, invariably, it will be two guys and one girl. The guys will both be hot. One will act cold and indifferent, even rude, toward the girl, but the other is all sugar and spice and everything nice, the kind who holds open the door and is all charm. Ex: Vampire Knight, Shugo Chara! (ish), etc.

7. Predictable plot. Humdrum. Obvious. Repetative. You know, where you know what's going to happen before it happens because it's happened so many times before. Like in Naruto, you know he won't die or lose because the ratings (somehow) are so good that the anime people can't even imagine canceling it. Or in Sailor Moon, how one way or another you know she's going to defeat the evil people with her pure heart of whatever. Even the best plots can be ruined when they repeat the same trick too many times.

8. Too serious. Some anime/manga makers can balance a serious, dark plot with comedy like I've never seen (and the reason that I mention manga is the Fruits Basket manga is a prime example) but when the humor factor is left out all you're left with is characters monologuing about how terrible everything is and how serious their situation is or whatever. It gets kind of smothering.

9. Annoying main character. That one character where you see the mannerisms, hear the voice, and walk the other direction. How much less weight would the title "Narutard" have if Naruto was a character who actually didn't make you want to slam your head against the wall and weep for the future of anime?? How many people would actually enjoy the School Days ending if Makoto weren't such a bastard?? It's just flat annoying when all of the side characters are just fine and dandy and the plot's good but the main character is annoying as hell.

10. Cliches. We've all seen them in dozens of places. The love triangle. The cool guy. The ditzy main character. The classic "Love can save the world!" ending. When it's been used that number of times, it's head-slammingly, tear-inducingly, depression-causingly TERRIBLE!! What was a good plot the first time it was used isn't necissarilly a good plot the tenth. New matterial is important. The reason Haruhi Suzumiya got so popular is that it's like nothing ever seen before. The reason so many people hate Vampire Knight is that the love triangle, vampire, cool guy, etc. nonsense has been used so many times that when it's recycled in such a bad way it's like taking a good recipe, replacing all of the ingredients with the artificial equivalent, sticking it in the oven, and trying to mass-market it. The results are never good, and all of the gourmets will stick to the orriginal recipe and ingredients and the others (i.e. fangirls) will flock the fake and write bad reviews about how fluffy and delicious the fake mashed potatoes (bishi A) are as when compared to the green beans (bishi B).
