Of course. But you must really be good at it as the competition in the field is pretty fierce.

yeah buts its really hard. especially with advancements in technology and how they use that technology for there anime. (mostly for CG and stuff) some computer engineering or computer graphics would definetely help you get into this field

And like all jobs, you need schooling.

Go to an art school. Practice (everything from free-hand to videography) for a few years (get good). Send in your resume to as many animation companies as you can (because it's near impossible to get into the one you want). And sit on your hands and hope for the best.

I'm currently an art major in college and it's pretty hard to get a job as an artist, so I'm switching to more of filming direction. Hopefully I have better luck there.

But whatever you do, make sure it's really what you want to do, because no matter what it is it'll be a pain to achieve it, so be prepared and do your homework!

Stay in school, kids!

Yeah, sure, why not.
Core prerequisites are needed, and not to mention being a jack of all trades, in other words being adaptable or able to do any style and type of work.

I wouldn't advice being an animator as it is a really competitive area of work. Also, it is a pretty hard finding a job as an artist. Even if one makes it, one's vision and ideas will be rarely considered.
