Ai Sp@ce has been discontinued and is not available for play. In case it returns, I will keep this guide here. I will let you all know if there is any news regarding the game's return.

UPDATED: JANUARY 1ST, 2012

Intro:

Okay, folks. For those of you who don't know, a bunch of different game companies joined forces to create a game called Ai Sp@ce. It's a combination of Shuffle, D.C. (not the comics) and Clannad. You can create characters, male or female, and get them clothes, go around town (which looks incredibly awesome and resembles the Japan we see in anime VERY well), and you can even go to school and stuff. Point is, it looks freakin' addicting and cool.
They're calling it a MMOSG which means Massive Multiplayer Online Social Game. There's no fighting.. Just socializing. Like every day life, only.. Anime-ish! If we all share one dream here, isn't it to have our lives a bit more like an anime? x_x Well, I think this may be as close as we can get for a while.

Please note that the game is in pure Japanese. There's not a scratch of English in it, and SO FAR I've heard nothing of an English release.. Though with the attention it's getting, the producers would be fools not to have an English release.

But, anyway, the website, the game, everything having to do with it is in Japanese. I myself would still like to play the game, just for the sake of walking around and seeing what it's like.

If you've got any such interests, please join our ever-growing community. :D

Guide:
Index:
(You can use this to easily navigate the guide. If you are looking for something in specific, let's say "School quests" for example, push ctrl+f and type in "School quests" (Without quotes) and hit next/search till you get to that section.)
Part 1: Registering, downloading, and installing.
Part 2: Enabling Japanese language on your computer.
Part 3: Direct X Issues.
Part 4: Logging In.
Part 5: Your first quest.
Part 6: A tour of your "Ai-Tune" (Under Construction).
Part 7: School quests.
Part 8: Extras.
Part 9: Contact me.
Part 10: Ai Sp@ce Chat.
Part 11: My thanks. :D

Part 1: Registering, downloading, and installing.
(Copied from a guide I made on another thread.)

First you'll need to register for Nico Nico! Go to their main website:
http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=ja&u=http://aisp.jp/&sa=X&oi=translate&resnum=9&ct=result&prev=/search%3Fq%3DAi%2BSp%2540ce%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DG

Now click on the MIDDLE heart. It'll take you to a login screen. Above the Username and Password boxes, there's a link in Japanese. Click it, and you'll go to the Register form.
x_x It's all in Japanese, so unless you know how to read it, don't take guesses at what it's asking.
Go here for a guide for signing up: *NOTE: This guide has a lot of extra crap that we don't need in this situation. So go ahead and just skip to step 2 on the guide where it says: 2) Registering
http://thenextweb.org/2008/01/15/how-to-register-for-japanese-video-site-nico-nico-douga/

Wooo! You're registered! :D
Okay, next thing is downloading the client! Go to http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=ja&u=http://aisp.jp/&sa=X&oi=translate&resnum=9&ct=result&prev=/search%3Fq%3DAi%2BSp%2540ce%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DG again and click the box on the far right underneath Nagisa. It has pink text in it. See it? K!

Now, once there, you'll see the Ai Sp@ce logo at the top left, and underneath that, there's a line of buttons. Click the one on the faaar right that's pink. :] That's the downloads page!

Now there will be a biiiig Ai Sp@ce button in the middle of the screen. Click it, wait a few seconds, and then bam! you're downloading!

The file is fairly small and will be easy to download. When installing it, just click the button that would normally be "next" a bunch of times. You'll have to click the check box for the user license agreement, too. The next button will always have a > at the end, if I remember correctly. x_x
Once you install it and open the client, it'll have to patch up a bit. Shouldn't take more than 30 minutes if you're on high-speed. Now, once that's all done, click the button to the right of the patch progress bar. That's the Play button. And tada! You're officially using the client.

Part 2: Enabling Japanese language on your computer (and the alternative).
Regardless of what you may be thinking, this is not just a luxury to help you play the game. Quite the contrary, this is required. If you do not do this, you will get a runtime error whenever you try to start the client!

Option 1: Setting your computers language to Japanese. VISTA USERS MUST USE OPTION 2!
Basically you have to turn your computer's language into Japanese. By doing this, everything will still be in English EXCEPT when you try to install Microsoft stuff.
But if you wanna turn it back to English, it's easy. :]

Okay, soooo go to Control Panel.
And then to Regional and Language Options. (Looks like a globe with a computer in front of it.)
There should be 3 tabs at the top. "Regional Options," "Languages" and "Advanced."
Go to Advanced. :]

There should be a pulldown box. Click on that and find Japanese, and set it to that. Hit Apply, and then hit Okay. :] It will probably ask for a computer restart so if you have anything cool open make sure you save it or whatever.

Like I said, turning it to Japanese only changes Microsoft installation things.. So really, it's no different from English. I can't really read a lick of Japanese but I just have mine on Japanese mode all the time for things like this. x_x;

So no risk, no worries. :]
That shoouuuld get rid of your runtime error.

If you wanna turn it back to English, just go to the same spot, and change that Japanese back to English. Good to go. ~_^

Option 2: Applocale. FOR VISTA USERS!!
Applocale is a program that will allow you to play foreign games without changing the computer language.
Unfortunately, Vista users must use this option, because for some reason setting the language to Japanese on Vista just isn't enough.

Step 1: Go to http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=8C4E8E0D-45D1-4D9B-B7C0-8430C1AC89AB&displaylang=en and download that program.

Step 2: After downloading, install it. (If you have problems installing it, please refer to the last part of the section).

Step 3: Go to START and in the search bar at the bottom, type in Applocale. It should show up at the top. RIGHT CLICK that and go to SEND TO, and choose desktop. This will make a shortcut to your desktop so that you don't have to run the search every time. Now double click the icon on your desktop. Hit next, and then browse for Ai Sp@ce (usually C: Ai Sp@ce). MAKE SURE YOU USE THE LAUNCHER! If you use "ai sp@ce" instead of "ai sp@ceLauncher," it won't work.

Step 4: Open up the game, and you should be good to go.

For those of you who got the error when installing AppLocale:
Windows has a security setting that will not allow you to install things it finds "unsafe." Applocale was made for Windows XP, so it's typically not SUPPOSED to work on Vista, but it does. It works perfectly well. The only problem is that Vista doesn't want you to install it.
So these are the steps you must take to fix this problem.
Go to START and CONTROL PANEL, and open up User Accounts and Family Safety.
Click on User Accounts.
Then, the last option on that page is "Turn User Account Control on or off"
Click that, UNCHECK the box, and hit okay. You'll now need to restart your computer.
Once you've done that, install AppLocale. It should install with no problems. Afterwards, you can go back and turn that security option back on, which I recommend you do.

Part 3: Direct X Issues.
If you get an error message when you start the game, and somewhere in there it says something about Direct X, don't panic! This is easy to fix. Simply visit http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=2DA43D38-DB71-4C1B-BC6A-9B6652CD92A3&displaylang=en to get the latest version of Direct X. Problem solved.

Part 4: Logging in.
When you put in your account's email address and password, hit enter and you SHOULD be good to go. If you get a message, make sure you're using the EMAIL ADDRESS you signed up with, NOT your user name.

Part 5: Your first quest.
A fair warning, when you first log in, you may lag your butt off. This is because the area it puts you in when you start out is probably the most populated area in the game. Sorta the "middle point" between all three islands, so many people come here. Once you finish the first quests, you can leave the island and go elsewhere. If you ever need to come BACK to the island, there are "channels" you can join if you have a laggy computer. Generally there are anywhere from 1-4 or 1-8 channels. Channel 1 is usually the most populated.

Anyway, this "quest" is something you HAVE to do before you can be on your own. But it's ridiculously easy and should take no longer than 10 minutes.
You're going to have to talk to 4 people, and then you're on your way.

First of all, I'd like to show you people how you switch between WALKING and RUNNING! As silly as it sounds, I see people ALL over the place walking around asking "How do I walk/run?" Even the Japanese players. Even though it's pretty simple, a lot of people overlook it. So just in case, here you go.

First, click your "emote" bar. Here there are many "emotes" you can use for a much more entertaining game. :]

Now click the little "running man" button!

Okay, now that we're done with that ridiculously easy part, on to the quest.
*PLEASE NOTE* This part of the guide is a bit old. It may automatically have you talk to some of these characters, so you won't need to click on them.

You'll want to talk to the pink-haired girl next to the Train man. This is automatic and happens right when you first log in.

Skip through whatever she's saying. (That's what you'll do for most of these. x_x)

Now turn left and you'll see a building directly across from you. Head in that direction.

Stop when you see the pink-haired girl! Approach her and yet another screen phase will happen. Talk to her.

Next, head into the building you were walking towards. There is a line of blinking blue lights on the floor. In Ai Sp@ce, walking past these lines takes you to a different area.

Once you're in the building, another phase will happen. A woman will talk to you. Finish that scene, and then go find her behind the counter. She should be the second one from the left. You'll recognize her. Once you find her, talk to her.

This is where you decide which island you want to live on. You should be able to figure out how to do that part, so I'll skip that.

Next, leave that building, and another phase will happen. You'll talk to the train man and he'll take you to your house.

When you finish loading, you'll hear the doorbell ring right away. Click on your door, and you'll meet the girl that will be living with you for all eternity. :] Hope you got a cute one!
Skip through what she's saying, and she'll be in your home. Now that's it! You're done with the quests, and you're free to roam Ai Sp@ce as you please.

Part 6: A Tour of your "Ai-Tune" and some of her features.
Before I continue, please note that all of this was translated by my friend Jusey on Ai Sp@ce. She lives in Japan and speaks little English, but spent ridiculous amounts of time working on this guide for us. Though some of it may be a bit difficult to understand, please try you hardest to figure it out. Don't let her hard work and missing sleep for a week straight go to waste.
All I really did here was put all the pictures on Tinypic and copy them to this board. Other than that, give me NO CREDIT.

Again, the above guide was written by Jusey, and all credit goes to her. If you see her in Ai Sp@ce, please say hello and thank you. She cannot understand a lot of English, but I know that a "Hello" and "Thanks for the guide" will suffice to put a smile on her face.

Part 7: School Quests and other jobs!
Thank god, it's finally here.
We now have a guide for quests at the schools. Though it was originally in Japanese and translated with Google, so it's not that great, it is still enough to get by easily. We used to have more guides but the websites crashed and we no longe rhave them. :[ If you find some, please send them to me and I will post them here, and give you credit.

Clannad Quests - http://aispace.wikia.com/wiki/Clannad_Quests

Shuffle Quests - http://aispace.wikia.com/wiki/Shuffle_Quests

This is all we have for now as far as school quests. The Da Capo website is down and I cannot find a replacement. :[ Again, please notify me if you find one.

As for other jobs, you can make some good amounts of D by doing the jobs provided in this link.
http://aispace.wikia.com/wiki/Baito

Also remember to get your daily 1,000 D! It's a great bonus!

Part 8: Extras.
In-Game Crunchyroll Group
There's a group of us that play Ai Sp@ce now, and we have our own group here on Crunchyroll.
You can visit and join us at http://www.crunchyroll.com/group/Ai_Space
We're gladly taking new members, and we have a lot of fun together. Recently we all got together and took group pictures with the Clannad School Uniforms on. We're all active players and socialize almost non-stop. Join us!

Part 9: Contact Me!
If you have questions that need answering, you can try to reach me here, though I don't get on too much, and when I do I tend to not read a whole lot and just update the guide. Once Winter Break comes along, I promise I'll answer a lot more questions here. x_x

If you want a better bet at reaching me, you can try me at Glenn_Claymore@yahoo.com

If you want to reach me in-game, I am usually on my character
直幸(Naoyuki), who's room number is: CLANNAD 0004-0968

If I'm not on him, you can try my other character,
グレン!(Guren!), who's room number is: Shuffle 0005-5966

Also keep in mind that this forum has MANY helpful users. Some who probably know much more than I do. So if you need help and I'm not around, they can be a big, big help.

Some more info on the game, and some pics:

Part 10: Ai Sp@ce Chat.
Thanks to Zealtron, we now have an IRC chat room where all are invited to chat about Ai Sp@ce.
Here's the Address:
server: irc.rizon.net
channel: #aisp@ce

Part 11: Thanks!
Though this guide may not look humongous, or detailed to the point of insanity, I made it during the week of both Finals and ACT's at my school. Not fun. I was more than willing to give up several times. But then I'd log in every now and then and hang out with my friends, and become ultra encouraged again. So my thanks goes to:

Zealtron: This guy cracks me up a bunch and was pretty much the first active member who helped me out. I believe he was the one who brought some "umph" to the forums, and whenever he left for a while, things got rather quiet and drull. And seriously, he's funny as hell. So thanks for keeping me motivated, man.

Saya7 and Jusey: These two are great. While I was wandering friendless in Ai Sp@ce one day, I decided to speak what Japanese I could and make some friends. Most people could tell I was new to the language and either ignored me or told me that they didn't quite understand what I was trying to say. But these two helped me out. They're the closest I have to tutors because of how much they teach me with every encounter. Not to mention it's VERY fun just speaking with them because it's a challenge when speaking a different language. Besides all that, they've been a big inspiration. I guess I can say that they are my two first foreign friends. Without them I wouldn't know many of the things I put in this guide. So if you see them walking around, flash a wave and say thanks. ^_^

Chizunyan: One of the originals. Soooooo helpful. Honestly, I was gone a lot and worried that when I came back there would be a bazillion messages from people saying "wut i do now?" and stuff. But I'd go to the forum and Chizunyan would have things under control, and help people out. Also, before we got the quest parts added to the guide, he'd take people around in Ai Sp@ce and show them the quests. I think he even still does it sometimes today. Since he can read Japanese, he obviously is a help beyond what I'd ever expected to get. So thank you a ton for helping out with everything, and just in general pushing me to work harder and get this done.

Sh1zuka: Good god, sooooooooo helpful. Since I first made this forum, Sh1zuka's been answering questions left and right and providing us with info on events, deadlines for things, server restarts coming up, etc etc etc. All the things we can't read, basically. I'll also get a text in-game every now and then with a random thing from Sh1zuka about an event or something cool that's going on. All-in-all, Sh1zuka has really helped this community, and I can't give enough thanks.

YoshinoYuuske: Another one of the originals. Yoshino totally vanished after 2 weeks or so, and I haven't really heard from him since, but I've always been super nostalgic, and so just the fact that he was one of the first really has an impact. He was a pretty funny dude for a while and seemed like an ESSENTIAL person for this group to thrive. Of course, it's thrived without him, but we all wish he'd come back. Just because of that one day taking pictures. The four of us had a pretty good time, I like to think. Heh.

Here's what I have so far:
(Copied from a guide I made on another thread.)

Hi everyone! Here's my first post and I figured I'd make it a good one. ^_^;
Behold... A guide to almost playing Ai Sp@ce! x_x;

First you'll need to register for Nico Nico! Go to their main website:
http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=ja&u=http://aisp.jp/&sa=X&oi=translate&resnum=9&ct=result&prev=/search%3Fq%3DAi%2BSp%2540ce%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DG

Here's where I get stuck. x_x I registered, got on the game, and tried to log in, but it would seem that I'm entering the wrong information. Even though it perfectly matches what I've signed up with. Soooo my guess is that we have to sign up at another place, too. However, I have NO idea where that is, and LITTLE idea of how to find it.

So help me out.

Oh, and If any of you are having a runtime error and crash when you try to log in on the client, I figured out how to fix it. Just let me know if you experience that. I doubt you'll encounter it, though.

Hmm.. It looked interesting! It is so much better than IMVU LOL.
That sucks that they're not letting anymore people in. I mean COME ON. How will the company get money off this game if they don't let us play?

Such a pain in the ass to play a game in a language you don't understand, furthermore if 99% of the game has to do with understanding the language, I pass.

SL stands for Second Life. its an online game where u can make avatars in a 3d enviroment. Basicly its a 3d enviroment where you can make and do anything u want if u are good enough at building 3d objects u can make space ships and fly em arround all kinda of weird stuff.

In fact my picture i use on there is a screen pic of my avatar i use in SL
I designed and built and modified most of the items he has / wears to customize him.

Hey everyone. Thanks for bumping this topic around while I was away.
I'm currently doing lots of translating to find an email address for the head honchos of Ai Sp@ce.. I'm hoping to get enough English folks to send emails to them requesting an English version of the game!
If they get enough, I can't see a logical reason why they wouldn't make an English version.. So when I find this Email address, throw them an email! Any Clannad fan HAS to be anxious to play this.. I mean, you get to literally walk around the places in the show. The school, the baseball fields, everything. Sounds cool, right?

Anyway, unless you wanna learn Katakana and Hiragana, send them an email as soon as I find the address. If none of you are busy and know how to translate Japanese, hit up the Ai Sp@ce website and help me find a contact list. :D

------ Edit!

I found it! I feel especially dumb because it was at the very bottom of the page.. And said, in plain English, "contact." :[ Uguu~

Anyway, here's the page.
http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=ja&u=http://aisp.jp/&sa=X&oi=translate&resnum=9&ct=result&prev=/search%3Fq%3DAi%2BSp%2540ce%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DG
That's the main Ai Sp@ce page. I couldn't link the actual contact page for some reason.
Anyway, just scroll to the very bottom and click the contact link. It's basically the last link on the page, so you can't miss it.

Go there and put in email, confirm email, change the type to "other" (if your page didn't translate, it's the last option on the pull-down list), and then put in the big box that you want an English version! If you're feeling inspired enough, tell them why you want it so bad, and maybe even mention that a lot of English folks wanna play this game pretty bad. I mean, the least we can do is make them think about it. Right?

Good luck~~!
