What irks me is not the limitations being implemented recently such as dropping larger screen and now bandwidth quota for non-supporters. Its when the person who did this keeps quiet and doesn't announce anything official which makes it really annoying. Even the mods aren't informed of this. If you want more free users to pay up, just say it out and not use these tactics to oppress your potential supporters. Why just stop at bandwidth quota? Just block the video altogether and stop the leeches once and for all.

wow he is actualy right if yur just gonna do something like this why dont you just say it out that way the members dont have to complain and get confuse on whats happening

Yeah... Agreed. If you want money, just said it out... Anyway, Fansubbed anime are Free~ You doesn't need money for it. In this site, you are paying for the Bandwidth and not the Anime. Why pay for it, when you can get them for free?
Just go to the Fansub group's IRC channel and get the Direct Download links. You can watch them all you want. No Buffering time, or any damn Bandwidth.

That is why i hate this site... Now i hate it~ This is no different from a Paysite you know. Its Almost Similiar to a paysite. Its not that I don't want to pay.. but the problem is.. why the heck should i pay if i can get them for free? Bit Torrent, IRC, DDL... Youtube is another exception

Haven't read through all the posts, so if this has already been answered, I'm sorry.

Is the bandwidth limit based on ip address or username? If it's on ip address, that kind of screws those of us on uni proxy networks over (though I understand it's unavoidable). If it's on username, won't that just lead to a lot of 'dummy' accounts being created?

First off if you had even bothered to read the actual message that pops up most of you would know this resets daily. Secondly, stop your whining and complaining you know shinji takes a lot of out of pocket expense for this sight I think at one time he was actually pretty much in debt to keep the site running. I hope everyone who is complaining will just go ahead and leave would mean more bandwidth for me to use up.

This was number 2 there was more to this quote but I'll focus on this part. He can't. It isn't legal. When your watching a series you can sometimes see not for sale or rent or you see if you paid for this get your money back. He can't legally make it a pay to watch site thats why he won't block the videos.

Not true. CR already blocks videos if you don't sign up. That alone permits one to block videos prior to performing a transaction such as signing up for a basic membership. Also note how CR conducts such payments as support or donation to the site and never as payment for viewing better quality videos as it is treated as an incentive. Hence its also possible to make video viewing as an incentive altogether.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know, well, exactly when it resets?

I haven't had the courage to waste one of my precious videos to try it out yet, and I was wondering if they reset after 12 hours of being offline or after 24... Or does it always reset at the same time for everyone?

All right, I'm groggy but after reading some responses, I have to make mine here.

CR is a direct video streaming site, not a torrent site. That's what makes it different from "Bit torrent, IRC, DDL..." Let's compare CR with other video streaming sites, yeah?

Veoh = restriction: five minutes' preview of video (to watch it in its entirety, you have to download it), which doesn't make Veoh a direct streaming site any more. It's basically a shop window now.
YouTube = restrictions: a few loops to jump through to watch a banned series, e.g. befriend an uploader before you can watch what you want on their private playlist; uploaders who are found guilty of violating Terms & Conditions get their videos removed and accounts revoked, and each video lasts roughly 10 minutes.
azntv = restriction: a limited number of videos (to watch anything you want on this site, you have to make a donation).
Stage6 = restriction: uploaders who found guilty of violating Terms & Conditions get their videos removed and accounts revoked; no licensed and unlicensed materials are allowed; and all videos uploaded to S6 are re-encoded as divx-compatible only.
the list is endless.

Almost all direct video streaming sites are great, but each has its own restrictions and limitations as, usually, a result of dealing with bandwidth demands, server costs and other factors. CR is no exception, bearing in mind that CR doesn't have corporate investments like Veoh, YouTube, etc.

That said CR is also different from these sites: CR was created as a hobby. It's a damn expensive hobby for Shinji who originally started it to share videos with his mates. Something has to give. Shinji seems to have chosen to put a daily limit on how much non-donaters can watch, rather than ban them from seeing any outrightly or shut the site down, to control bandwidth costs. I think it's a good move.

To make CR "free" for all, Shinji will have to turn CR into a direct download site. The downsides to this are:

a) not everyone has the manners to seed as long as possible after finishing their leeching (no seeders = no download)
b) not everyone has the means to download via a torrent
c) not everyone has the patience to download via a torrent

Gah. Got long-winded there. That's how annoyed I am with guys who complained. It's fucking common sense, guys. If you have friends over at your house and drink and eat whatever you have in the house almost every day, who are paying for food and drinks? Do you keep paying for it to keep your guests happy or restrict how many can visit your house? You can't keep bugging them to make a contribution cos some say they will but don't. So what do you do? That's a dilemma Shinji has to face.

Ok.. first is... I don't really support people who complain here. I understand shinji. But... as Fuildmotion had said the site is getting from Bad to worst. Fansub group have clearly stated that If you pay for a Fansubbed Anime, you are "trick". Whats the different of paying for it and donating here? Its almost the same.

Anyway, Downloaded anime are ten millions times better than CR's. You can watch them forever ;)

Btw, I am not asking shinji to turn CR into a DDL site. Fansub group themselve have ways to distribute their release. Bit torrent and etc (They just need to have someone there seeding) that doesn't cost any $$$ (But only your electrical bills will go up) They are doing it for free btw.

Because you can still watch media if you don't support. You don't have to support, there are just bonuses to when you do. These extras are bonuses, not rights.

I don't know if anyone's read the previous posts, but Shinji is doing his best to keep crunchyroll (a *free*) anime viewing site by spening over 20,000 dollars out of his own pocket ..and he's a colledge student too... If all you people are here, then it's obvious you really care about crunchyroll ^-^ It's only 6 dollars a month!
