Apparently nuclear training software has been stolen.
http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepublic/news/articles/0422nuclear-reax0422.html

An ex-employee of the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station, in Arizona, allegedly downloaded training software to his laptop while he was in Iran. The software was downloaded from a Maryland-based contractor to the nuclear plant. It contained information about the Palo Verde facility: control rooms, reactors, and design. It was used to simulate situations for training at the site. Why the ex-engineer downloaded the software is not known. What is troubling is this person's ability to access the software after his employment at the site ended.

This isn't the first. Porn trading leads to leaked Aegis specs, a very important system to the US Navy. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/04/05/japanese_navy_porn_missile_shocker/

Well we might as well just give them stealth planes and ray guns while we're at it.

As some one who used to handle classified materials on a daily basis... I think things could be A LOT better in regards to security.

I think the problem comes when you deal with it on a day to day basis, you tend to "forget" it's sensitive info. I also think we shouldn't have any sensitive information online - that's just asking for trouble.

well in this day where information is power, laws have to become tougher to this kind of thing. I mean there's been an exponential increase of online crimes, that's just a sign of tthe times. Things are changing rapidly and we have to change accordingly to fit in this new world.

Michael Piotrowski - Dangerous Google – Searching for Secrets

blurb: Information which should be protected is very often publicly
available, reveled by careless or ignorant users. the result is
that lots of confidential data is freely available on the internet- just Google for it.

Yeah... Security does suck these days...
Also in my school!

Students frequently lose valuables...
I did once too! My poor wallet...

edit: National Security is a bit off too...
I guess the government would be responsible of these...
