Wow. What a well thought out post. Now then should we ban everything that hurts something? The sun can damage your eyes are we going to block it out? You can tear muscles running or even walking no more of that. Carbon monoxide kills no more cars. Should I continue?

i guess to back up smokers' rights--of course everyone has been talking about how each individual smoker themselves should do it in the privacy of their own home, but a lot of those people have children of their own. they don't want to jeopardize their own children's lives because of second hand smoke nor give a bad influence. smokers usually know that they shouldn't be smoking... and a lot of them actually want to or have tried to quit. it gets hard because it's an addiction. i'm not saying they think smoking around OTHER children is alright, but if you ask a smoker to stop smoking because it bothers you... 75% of the time, they are considerate enough to account for others' preference. on the other hand, there are many rude smokers as well who don't give a rat's ass about who they're killing. i don't think it's right to group all smokers into one category of being inconsiderate selfish pricks because that's not the majority. i'm not a smoker myself, but i do sympathize with their needs to de-stress and addictive habits.

Right. So they should come out in public and jeopardize my children?!
Also..it's stupid to bann Mcdonalds...

no they should have the right just as your children and you, and banning mcdonalds read my other post. dont you get it, its called obesity, something that has been directly after your "children" and to which there are no bans or thinking of banning on.

McDonalds isn't making us fat... We are making us fat. Anyway, there's no such thing as food (other than like...poison or rotten stuff.) that is bad for you. If you portion things properly it's all contributes to your body in some beneficiary way. By the way, I notice my earlier post was a bit offensive, I'm sorry about that. I didn't mean to come off that way.

They should have the freedom to smoke. Just not in public. People should have the freedom to do whatever they want with -their- health. Not mine.

i hate cigarrettes and people smoking them. because i go to college, i inhale smoke at least once a day while walking to class. it's disgusting and completely wrong that i should be the one to suffer in the future when i haven't even done anything. if someone wants to smoke then they should do so in their own home and away from the public. a smoking ban will force people to get help with their addiction and improve their health. then i won't have to inhale so much smoke each day.

pfff making cigaretts illegal would be a stupid move.
Way too many people smoke (i can just imagin the chaos it would cause if smoking was banned in Mexico xD heads would roll! haha lets be glad its not here!)
I dont understand why you cant smoke in like a public park o_O its stupid! theres these parks and places outside where they mark a little square area where it sais you can smoke here but you cant smoke outside of the little smoking square! omg no! Its totally pointless if you ask me, its the same thing where you smoke, the produced smoke just floats away into the air x_x

But then you also have to consider the rights of others....
Whatever happened to the rights of people who wish to have smoke free air at the park/bus stop/outside of school etc etc. (also consider those who have asthma or generally just people who have respiratory problems and cant breathe properly... DONT THEY HAVE THE RIGHT TO LIVE?!?!) I get what you're saying about peoples rights.. but when ones actions starts to affect others in a negative way... can you really say you had the right to do that (even if indirectly) to someone else?

The most ridiculous thing is that governments and anti-smoking groups want to ban and make cigarettes illegal, while other known killers such as let's say...i don't know MCDONALDS, and other fast food franchises get to sick there fat injected foods in to young children and everyone else.

McDonalds is totally different. the only way one can possibly die from mcdonalds is by CHOOSING to eat it regularly (lets say everyday) in large quantities. you cant possibly compare this to smoking because when people smoke.. those around them CANT CHOOSE to just not breathe. (unless you suggest they plug their nose, risk killing millions of brain cells, just so they can run over to an area where no one is smoking... now THATS RIDICULOUS)

in any case, i don't think they should ban smoking because a.) too many people smoke already and yes we all have the right to do w/e we want with ourselves, therefore b.) it will cause lots of controversy and will probably start some revolt =___=. however i feel smokers should be more responsible and considerate of others in a sense of trying to restrict oneself from smoking in places where its jam packed with people.

PS! chocolate is good for you actually... it provides natural health-promoting substances called flavonoids which help prevent heart disease and cancer. overconsumption of it is bad though (much like overconsumption of ANYTHING), it causes tooth decay and cavity and all that nasty shit. for more information, ask your dentist =D
