I have a question for anyone that like to answer it. If Thor god of Thunder, and Odin his father, and Rey all came down and claimed that they are the true Gods! And the Christian God is not real.
What would it take for you to believe them?
Say they wipe out all the militarize powers on earth, would you then convert to Norse Paganism?

Types of Evidence
- Eyewitness testimony
- Is the eyewitness reliable? Biased?
- Supporting testimony
- Can you find a neutral party to confirm some part of the testimony ?
- Material evidence
- Any evidence that confirms what really happened?
- Self observation

This is really what is needed for any Atheist to be converted. In my opinion! See atheist are willing to believe if you can show real proof that it is true.
(this is just a friendly question.)

Judging how people have been posting!
I don't think you get the idea behind the thread. I was asking what would it take for you to believe in the Norse.

What would it take?
What did it take to believe in your religion?

There's already enough "lol religion is dumb lol" topics. Why don't you just go bump one of those, reuse the same points that 20 other people in the thread put forward, so 20 other people can use the same counter-points, and demonstrate yet again how humans are so limited in our thinking capacity that the only thing most people can discuss "intelligently is religion," which is a subject that requires no knowledge or critical thinking skills, and where very many (if not all) preconceived and irrational statements can be considered valid.

I might convert to Buddhism or something just to avoid being lumped in with anti-theists like you. I never hear any of them trying to disprove other people's religions, so it must be one of the few that doesn't provoke the same ignorance that atheism and some other religions does for most people.

Isn't the reason why it is called mythology is because they are a lot less believable than religions?

Anyway, not believable.

if really odin came down and wiped out all the military powers in the world.it will take more than that for me to convert to norse..if it was that easy to sway peoples heart and mind.we would have hailed genghis khan, julius caesar or attila the hun as gods.in my opnion it will take more than even all material evidence to sway people to a certain religion.islam have the Quran, christians have the bible, these can be considered evidence, but still we diverse and everybody has a different religion.even atheist have their own principles they hold true to.what i am trying to say is if i wanted to convert to norse it has to have certain aspects of it that draws me to it..something that coincide wit my own principals.i know i am being vague but that just my two cents..

if if if if if. sadly this is not very probable to happen. but even if those gods would show up, i wouldn't believe in them as i only believe in myself and the rest can gtfo. simply said.

I would still be Agnostic. I mean, if Odin proves his existence, then it's likely that other gods exist as well.

im not trying to convert any athiests. I respect all beliefs. What im trying to destroy are racists-like views of Christians. It has nothnig to do with the religion, but the people who follow it.All im trying to say is not all Christians are bad people. This is mainly dierected at that athiest extremists who i was argueing with.I hate extremists views, both religous and non religious.

As for your quesion, it's hard to define a god, what makes a god a god? If these gods came down and showed awsome power, they wouldn't disprove my God, because it can be said my God sent them down to earth for a reason. We wouldnt know that reason, but it wouldnt matter. Ultimatly though, if they started destroying things and crap i would personaly caraterise them as powerful demons.and, since i am a soldier of God, it would be my responsibility to take them out.Im also sure whats left of the military would agree. So would everyone else...And if they came to earth to heal people and be good and all that stuff, i can caraterise them as angels, sent by God.Maybe the angels were ordered not to tell the humans about thier God.I would see why. But you see, because there is no evidence of my God, it can only serve to prove how much more mysterious he is. My God doesnt have a physical body and is not of the physical world. He has never showed himself to be either peace over war

come on now...not all athiests and religious people are the same. Most people cant discuss religion intelligently-most intelligent discussions happen outside of religion.Even anime can be discusses intelligently better then most people discuss religon. And religion does require knowledge and critical thinking skills. Its when you dont use them that you get some extremists religous terrorist blowing up buildings and shit.Same with extremists athiests that use unscientific knowledge to attempt to justify why all religion should be wiped out. Both extreme ideas are based on the same thought processes of racism, sexism, anti semitism, and all that jazz.

There are some athiest (even here on crunchyroll) that can discuss religion in a very mature and logic and non offensive way.
Same with some religious people (even here on crunchyroll).I have argued with both types, i would know.I have also argued with extremists. So i have experience. And you can learn a lot about both sides of the story.Arguements are meant to increase our visual of the world. To understand the world in other people's viewpoints. Arguements are not meant to kill people-like that guy who got shot/killed over an arguement about rap lyrics in my school.Thats not the purpose of critisism/arguements.

"I might convert to Buddhism or something just to avoid being lumped in with anti-theists like you. I never hear any of them trying to disprove other people's religions, so it must be one of the few that doesn't provoke the same ignorance that atheism and some other religions does for most people"

Well, i will admit that Buddist seem to be a little bit more spiritual and less offensive then a lot of other people when concerning religions. On the same note that mainly is a cultural thing (considering they live in Asia and/or there religion has its origins in Asia).
American culture tends to be...well some what...different.So religion may be treated differently here. But that doesnt mean all athiest and religous people in America are ignorant/close-minded. Because all religions tend to have very similar views on morality.Christianity and Buddhism share very similar moral views. Jesus and Budda were very alike.Same with Socrates.
btw, i dont try to disprove any religion, i respect all opinions, even the extremists ones like "all americans deserve to die".
"humans are so limited in our thinking capacity"
you know, i have encountered very few people who tend to share that same viewpoint

peace over war
