Twilight is WAY overrated. If you read it carefully you'll start to see how sexist the book really is. Makes me sad to think about how low a standard society has set for "Good Reading". True, I guess it could be entertaining but then again you really need to have no sense of what your reading for it to be entertaining. The only people I hear raving about it are mostly fan girls. I swear it's VK all over again.....-_-

I read the first two books. They were terrible. . -___-; I only read them because I had a friend who really liked it for a while (thank god she grew out of it ) and I didn't want to hurt her feelings so I read her copies.

The writing wasn't all that great and was trying to hard to be dramatic I guess.
Also immediately hated all the characters. Bella is a giant mary sue and is annoying and selfish. And the rest of the character are equally as dumb.

And they are making that freaking movie about it too. Ugh.

From my opinion (note Im not speaking for everybody nor trying to be a professional critic), I think the author does a good job of writing a romantic story that young adults and adults alike are able to read. The thing I appreciate about her books are the lack of sex scenes (well, that is if u read the final volume which isn't really all that blunt) and yet a reader can still feel the sexual attraction and love between the two protagonists. well, plus the werewolf too. Anyways. if you want to read a science fiction novel with romance, thriller, triangle love, vampires, werewolves, power struggle. Feel free to try twilight. If you don't care too much for any of these, than I suggest you pick something else. Note, if you're expecting another great trilogy like Harry Potter, maybe this might not be right for you but then again maybe somebody after me might debate on Harry potter so I'll leave it at that. hope this helps u.

at this day and age, its hard to think up of original plots that wont deter the public...
everything nowadays is a remake or an upgraded version. besides, why fix something that isn't broken? the forbidden/unrequited love plot NEVER gets old. just look at titanic, a walk to remember, star wars 2, romeo and juliet, etc.

i heard it was about a vampire falling in love with a human?
i dont know. ive never read the book. my sister loved it though.

you should read all books to make you understand and like it..but if you dont really like then its ok since we all have our different taste of books.

The plot is pretty ok but I really can't stand the annoying fangirls gushing about how hot Edward is. I mean, geez, get a life. He's fictional. Even the guy who plays Edward in the movie is just ACTING out his role. He's not real, ok!?
I thought the first book was quite long-winded in the beginning though, and yeah, the series is really overrated. I think the romance plays a big part as to why it's so popular. Like I said, fangirls.

It's like the English version of Vampire Knight, judging from the hyperbole, annoying fangirls and "OOOH! LeaD Ch4r4ct3r is sooooo HAWT! <3" comments.

Well, I absolutely hate bandwagoners, who just read for the hype and gush on and on about it, but seriously. The plot development is great. and te characters. and everything.

and will someone PLEASE slap KinkyHamster? he's being a total idiot.

this is what happens when you use seawater for brains.
