White girl in Asian movie industry?
Posted 11/1/08
Do you guys think white girl/boy can become Asian actress/actor ?
Look in Hollywood we can see a lot of different nationality people who are famous and known in whole world, for this reason Hollywood is dream place where all people who have talent can be famous. Yeah? So can white girl (or boy) become famous in Asia? Can they try to become Asian actor/actress or singer, speak some Asian language and do the best for Asia?
I stared to thinking about it when i first time heard about japanese black singer JERO. He is half japanese but still black. So i wanna know can white girl/boy do something like this even she/he real white person.

actually alot of white stars or stars in hollywood are
famous in asia because people in asia watch american films also.
such as brad pitt,angelina jolie,george clooney,matt damon,etc...are famous there.
thats why when a new film is coming out american stars also come to asia to promote it too(:

thelma aoyama is part trinidad and she "made" it in japan.
and lena fujii, leah dizon etcc..but there all part asian.
though if you mean a full white person speaking in japanese, korean, chinese etc then idk..lol

Asia = for Asians.

America is more diverse.
Because it isn't just ONE race populating the country.

It's fine if people are mixed.
If you have some kind of 'Asian' in you, you are able to get into the industry.

Well I can only think of one "white girl" in the Asian movie industry at the moment:
Larisa/Rui Sha, and I believe she's Ukrainian

She acted in Iswak 2 or They Kiss Again as Jiro Wang's love interest

I'm not sure if she'll actually be successful in Asia but I liked her as Christine in TKA

isn't russia located on the continent of asia? aren't all the countries that made up the soviet union in russia? aren't they caucasian?don't asian dramas use actors from there when they need a white person in a series?you do see white people and i don't mean the mixed ones in asian dramas, just like you occassionally see a black person. i don't expect to see alot of non-asians, just what the storyline dictates, because most asian countries have very few foreignors living there permanently. most foreignors are there for business, military duty, school, or they married somebody asian. but just like asian actors who go to holllywood with very little english, they manage to memorize their lines. i don't see why a non- asian couldn't get famous in asia. as long as they meet the universal requirements for fame. they have to be either really cute, really good at singing, dancing or acting. if they have any of those skills, they can be famouse. besides asia is no longer a closed society anymore. with the advances in global communications and travel, there is more interactions between east and west. in america, some schools even offer japanese and chinese language classes now. before when i was a kid all you got was french, spanish, and german. my 9yr old nephew is learning chinese and spanish in the 5th grade. in 20-30 years, it probably won't even be an issue. it will be a one world community.

Hmm... i see what most of you guys are talking about. I can get it whyyou dont see much fully white or black or spanish actors in Asian dramas or movies. But most people are seeing how the Asian filming and music industry is growing. Just last yr we had a JROCK concert in Miami by me. SO i can say yeah non-asian actors and musicians and wat not will soon be able to become big in Asia. Plus even if they dont speak the language and speak pure english, spanish..or w.e its their abilities that count. Plus alot of american musicians and actors are WELL known in Asian countries.. And GACKT is coming to america to do a movie here...( IM SO FRICKIN EXCITED) and Se7en is coming here. So i bet soon we'll be there. =D
