That what I think too.Once you think about it, British and some western Europe had brought with them science and modern technology, democracy, self-interest and global economics to other countries have better trade. Not only that countries that been colonized shared their self-interest and trade such as healthy foods to Europeans Without all this, will be stuck in the Middle Ages.

Heavy topic but former British colonies tend to do very well for themsevles in this day and age. Whether or not a person believes in is a moot point since that era of colonialism is over. I think the topic of whether or not a country has benefited from British colonialsm.

Advancement in the sciences cures for diseases, better and healthier ways to live everyday life. Those advancements save lives everyday. The life expectancy in industrialized nations is high. Everyone benefits from it. Downplaying it as simply getting "gadgets" isn't really looking at the big picture.

Are people still bitter about stuff that happened over a hundred years ago? Shit.
Fair enough, your country got colonised, but to blame all of your current problems on it is just stupid, like blaming the jews for making your country poor.

Once you think about it, yes. But when I wrote colonize, I mean spreading modern technologies and science, and introduced societies to advanced ideas. So western colonisation wasn't all bad and it also help to preserve arts and culture in a lot of countries. I am aware of the whole genocide incedinces that happen in the 19th century, back then it wasn't very simple because of self-determination or isolations which cause a lot of damage including genocides. It is clear that self-determination is not the solution to all colonization countries like african countries.

Try reading this article by this Indian professor about British colonization and why he said its wasn't all that bad. http://chronicle.com/free/v48/i35/35b00701.htm
