Why do a lot of people say Kaname is evil?

About the "pawn" comment,

He ain't evil.

I don't care how other talk about him being evil...
Because I no matter how, I will still love him with all my heart...
And even if all people in this world hate him and say that he is evil, I will still stand by his side forever...
Protecting and giving him encouragement all the time...
Its because I know the real him, that wanted to protect the one he loved most with all the thing he can used around him...
So I can't bring myself to hate him or to say that he is evil...
Because I probably gonna did what he did to protect someone I loved most...

I don't know if I would say he's evil I just don't want him with yuuki

Kaname IS NOT EVIL!!!!!! He had been in pain for the past 10 years after being resurrected by his evil uncle Rido. You'll have to accept the true nature that he had to put his soul on the line to protect his only love... and that's his ancestor/fiancee Yuuki.

I'm sick of people saying Kaname is evil, he's not. All of these years he's been protecting Yuki, resisting urges to bite her and drink her blood and turning her back to what she originally was and then bam! Zero comes along and starts to hurt Yuki, drinking her blood, just because she says yes doesn't mean it's ok. And Zero tells Yuki all the time that Kaname and her are different while Kaname lets Yuki do what she wants to do.

psh...i love kaname. and zero.

I think that Kaname is just mysterious, and that turns certain people off , but he is not evil.

in that prespecitive, everyone in the book who has a loved one is evil to him/herself, his/her lover and the ppl around them~

It's in his image. He's good looking, but there's something really dark and mysterious about him.

He is evil to Zero.

Kaname is not evil, he just has evil habits......He used and manipulated a lot of people around him for his own selfish (non-evil will be selflessness) purposes, regardless if his intentions were good. Sometimes good intentions can still end up being slightly evil and malicious (but nonetheless, unintentional...I cannot fathom that Kaname realized such outcomes for some of his actions...) The end product of most of Kaname's actions left other people hurt, while him and Yuuki were the only two who appeared to benefit (at least, for now since the series is still ongoing). Takuma, Aidou, Luca, Kain, Shiki, and Rima were all used for many years by Kaname. He bit Luca knowing the effects of such an action, causing her to overlooked Kain's unrequited love and affection...He used Zero to his advantage, but has the nerve to threaten (and detest him) him when all the while, he needed him the whole time to defeat Rido (someone whom he could not defeat by his own strength)...He lied and tried to place Shizuka's death on Zero and recanted when his beloved Yuuki became angry with him (he killed Shizuka and took her blood knowing that it was the only way Zero would be prevented from falling to level-e...My guess is that he did this with the intention of leaving Zero with no other possible option, but to rely on him and not disobey him)...He killed the Vampire Council...He knowingly used all his friends in the most vile and reckless manners...I know Kaname is a respected pureblood, but in my opinion, respective titles should come with honorable actions.

Here is my analogy based on the premise of the chess board scenario Kaname is so fond of in the show:

Kaname is the King in the game of chess, Yuuki is the Queen, Zero is the unintentional Rook, Takuma, Luca, Kain, Aidou, Shiki, and Rima are pawns, and Seiren is the Knight, (could not think of a bishop right off the bat)...

LAST BUT NOT LEAST, he does not even seem remorseful for the things he has done (or maybe, that is how Hino wants it to appear)...Or rather, he has an odd way of showing it....He is also not very kind to his fellow, devoted vampires...(MY OPINION)

But I will say that his mysteriousness makes for a good plot throughout the story, and there is no doubt that he loves Yuuki...

Although I listed some negative qualities about him, he still has a lot of good ones as well (loyalty (having only love for one woman, Yuuki), devotion (staying devoted to Yuuki, even when she choose Zero over him), perseverance (enduring 10 years of loneliness without Yuuki),intelligent (assessing situations and making the necessary preparations, even if it ended with detrimental results) etc, and this is coming from a Zero fan...

Because he hates Zero and he has such an uneasy way of looking at everyone. He doesn't says that much and when he does say something, it's a cruel thing. And he's dating his sis? I mean? XD You know.
