I don't know what this 'draft' thing means but I'd try to avoid joining the military in any possible way to be honest.

a draft is an action the government enforces during war time if they don't have enough people volunteer to be soldiers. what happens, at least in the US is that once a man turns 18 he has to fill out a form stating all his information and stuff, and then if they instate the draft they can take any men they want and force them to become soldiers whether they want to or not.

during this time you usually see a mad dash of lots of people to canada or something. but if you don't fill the form out when you're 18 you can go to jail if they catch you and what not.

luckily you don't have to worry about it because, at least in the US, they don't include women in the draft. and the reason for that is (to the main poster saying that it's not fair that only men get drafted), because when they first came up with the draft it was during a time when women had their roles and men had their roles. back then women belonged in the home and men defended them. war was a man thing not a woman's. and back then if the women wouldn't have stayed home there wouldn't have been as many people making bombs and missles. and who would take care of the children?

there are many things that can get you out of the draft though. for instance, you have to pass a physical exam. another thing is that if you're the only person that can carry on your family name then they won't take you. if they did and you died that would basically wipe out you whole family eventually. watch saving private ryan, good movie about what i just wrote.

anyways if they did however have women be part of the draft then i would join. they pay for a lot of your college i believe. and there are some other good perks to being in the military. i once thought of joining but lol they don't want me because i have asthma so i'm out.

I've lived on a miltary base with my mother a few years ago and personally I've seen a lot of crazy shit and herd a lot of horror stories. My mother has worked with a magority of crazy people and she can tell you straight up that if you aren't mentally stable, than the military isn't for you. People with their limbs blown off in wheelchairs or artifical limbs and some even mentally insane, not saying that all people in the military are or come out this way, but I rather be put in jail for the rest of my life than serve my country.

no way in hell , iam a pacifist

so you would never use violence to solve something?

not violence , i do argue

so if you knew that someone would go to a kindergarten, rape 26 children (including your own little sister) and then murder them using a power drill just to finish off by ripping out their spinal column and eating their eyes.

Wouldn't you kill him/her if you had the chance? Because if you called the cops it would be to late

well thats different , that'll be violence for a reason ,but war what reason do you have there

yeah I know but pacifist is a pretty strong word.

I wanted to join the army because it seemed like fun to spend a year or two in training. And thats all there is to it. The small part of the swedish army that goes to the middle east are only there to keep the peace. We haven't been at war for 200 years

no its not , :P
ok , uhh you think trainnig in the army is fun, well i do know someon who did go through it and when he came back ,omg he looked ages older ,its really tough over there well thats what i was told, but sure it might be a ''good' experience
