It seems to me that one has a duty in politics to act in the interests of his country, but what would happen if your religious duty conflicted with that political duty? I have spoken with religious people who avoid participation in politics to avoid such clashes of loyalty, since what is best for one's country is not necessarily in line with one's religion. Those who serve their nation best are those fully devoted to its prosperity. One cannot serve two masters, after all...

I'm excited for Obama, not because he is black or anything else, but because of the platforms he holds and promises he makes. There is not much we can do now than hope he upholds his promises. It would have been the same for McCain supporters if he had won as well.

However, there is a democratic majority within the House and Senate so things are looking up.

It's kind of interesting how less than 50 years ago, even if a person was only 1/64th black and the rest of their heritage was white, as long as they looked black they were still looked down upon and had to deal with the same crap as every other black person, because they weren't "pure" white so they didn't deserve the same respect as other white people.

Now a lot of people are saying "oh he's not REALLY black, he has some white in him," as if the idea of having a "real" black person being president is so terrible, and the fact that he's half white means he won't be as bad as someone who is fully black.

Racism sure is funny sometimes.

assumption. it's not me who is bickering the whole time about his blackness, and how it's awesome that he's black, and what not. i was just playing with the pro-black's words. i, personally, never took his skin colour in any of my arguments to support my statements. i couldn't care less about his colour. it's others who call me racist for being for mccain, because it makes me obviously a racist, if i don't vote for the black person. sure. go fuck yourself over with your smart ass comment.
the race card is being played countless times by now and it sure as hell gets tiresome. even if he was fully black, i wouldn't give a fuck about his skin colour. it's the african americans with their black-pride who are constantly flickering around with obama's skin colour.

i don't let my judgemental skills get influenced by someone's heritage.

If my post was directed at either of you, I would've quoted you. It was just more of a general statement, because I keep hearing other people (on the internet and in real life) going on about how we shouldn't be proud of having a black president because he's not fully black, yet a few generations ago he would've been treated (and he probably was) as if he were fully black.

i was notified by your statement and you statement has to do with what i said. i dont care if you quoted me when you said it. the fact still remains is that you think someone saying hez not really black is racist when its just giving a fact.
