Jiraiya is almost comic relief with his constant ogling and carousing with girls. It is almost impossible to take him seriously.
Yet, this is precisely why he is my favourite. While some may think that "Will of Fire" values are a reason to get strong (protect your friends, etc..), the true meaning of strength is to impress the ladies =-)
While Jiraiya actually never says this, everything about his character wouldn't deny it.

he's very smart...imagine, Chidori is a hard technique but Sasuke managed to learn it in just a month, then when Naruto is learning his new technique [that has something to do with his wind chakra...i forgot wat the technique is called], Kakashi-sensei has an idea for him to learn it easier and sooner. so KAKASHI-SENSEI IS THE BEST!!! |

Argh. I can never pick just one with these types of topics, just want all their greatnesses to overwhelm me.
Third Hokage probably left the best legacy with the advantage of age.
Kakashi is probably best all-around because when he is teaching he's brilliant, consistent, stays on an even keel, improvises well, and manages to pass his perviness off as almost sweet and innocent. I like his tardiness.
But my personal fave is Jiraiya because his silly exterior masks a grave, intelligent, and very knowledgeable interior. I think he's a perv inside and out though, which suits me just fine. I like that he's an informal teacher, a loner, and that he passed on the Hokageship because he doesn't need the title or something along those lines. But since genjutsu is not his forte I would head over to...
Orochimaru when I want a taste of badness and want to see my sensei with a phallic object in his mouth.

This is hard. Im choosing between Kakashi and Jiraiya. But I think the best would be Jiraiya 'cause he has taught Minato, Nagato, Konan, Yahiko and of course, Naruto. All of them turned out to be powerful, alhtough some of them has been consumed by pain and hatred.

i say minato, as he taught my fav character, kakashi, who taught naruto. i would say jiraiya but naruto is probably stronger than him now.
