I don't think Bleach can be put under romance. It's more like comedy/action. There is barely any romance, aside from the scene where Orihime pours out her feelings to the sleeping Ichigo. Everything else is too vague to be romantic. Between Rukia and Ichigo it's more like friendship than anything else. And I would rather see her with Renji.

I agree, the "romance" is pretty vague. But there's a lot of underlying feelings. I guess its supposed to be complicated relationship-wise, but if you tone it down you can't even tell there's relationships! However, between Rukia and Ichigo, yeah it is friendship, but in that really cliche saying isn't it friendship that "blossoms" into love? And it's pretty obvious that they're attached. (whole 2 seasons in which Ichigo attempts to rescue Rukia, and Rukia keeps trying to die in order to save him. [ I know her 'dying' was more complicated than that but still]) But, if you want to look at it that way, Renji is also "just a friend." (And she didn't give second thoughts to him.)
Sorry, I'm not trying to convince you. Didn't mean to have you chewed out by an IchiRuki shipper.

Well, I disagree about the Rukia/Renji friendship. Rukia was pretty worried about Renji when she sensed him fighting Byakuya and every time he was near death or in danger. She was just as worried about him as she was about Ichigo. During the 1st two seasons I thought that Ichigo and Rukia would be an item, but I do think she will be better off with Renji.

I also thought that Orihime and Ishida will end up together during the Soul Society arc. When it comes to romance, Bleach is pretty confusing, the "underlying feelings" fluctuate all the time between different people. Now that we know that Orihime is in love with Ichigo, perhaps those two will end up together.

I doubt it. That is Orihime and Ichigo. Though Ichigo is pretty nice to her , surprisingly. That's where the 'complicated' part comes in. Personally I've never liked Orihime. As for Rukia/Renji as apposed to Ichigo/Rukia: yeah, she was worried about him -- they've been best friends since childhood. And the same goes for Ichigo, too. She always knows when he's fighting someone. Most of the time someone has to hold her back when he does. And what about episode 15 when she decided to leave because of her attachment to him. ( You know: "Ichigo and I are..." *hesitation* "Ichigo and I are just friends!") 'Course that was a very early episode and I'm probably looking to deep.
I thought that Orihime and Ishida would end up together, too. I still hope they do. She would lighten him up in my opinion. But, Ishida stopped being an important character after the Bount filler seasons. So, since he's out of the picture, how can she fall in love with him. I think this is more of a case of the manga-ka's indecision.

Ishida never stopped being an important character, he only disappeared for a while because he lost his powers during the Soul Society arc. He gains them back and accompanies Ichigo and Sado to Hueco Mundo to save Orihime. And he becomes even stronger than before. Later Rukia and Renji join them.

I don't know how far you are into the series, but Rukia's and Ichigo's "attachment" is not as strong as it was at the beginning of the series. Ichigo was extremely adamant about saving Orihime and was really pissed off with Ulquiorra told him that he forced her to come to Hueco Mundo after Ichigo told him that he won't fight him since he didn't hurt any of his friends. And during the fight between Ichigo and Grimmjow, Nel told her that she should believe in Ichigo because he was fighting for her.

I know that Ishida regains his powers and he comes out of obscurity. What I meant by my comment was that, basically, if a person is not there then no one can have the chance to fall for them. I don't really know how strong Orihime's feelings are -- but I do now that she's never felt like that before. But I still don't think that Ishida had chance since she never got to see him. Not only that, but it seems out of character for her to suddenly drop the bomb that she's in love.
As for how far I am in the series: sorry, but I guess I'm not up to date. I'm mid-one-hundreds, so, no, I haven't gotten as far as you, and I may be arguing without a basis. But the fact that Ichigo was extremely "adamant" about saving Orihime doesn't really mean anything. Not romantically. (Btw, I know the basic storyline for the next few seasons but I still might overstep myself.) Wouldn't he do that for any of his friends? He did so for Rukia, even though she supposedly had a fair sentence. He would do so for Chad (and the same way around, Chad would too.) Orihime is no different. We already know he has good character. He would go to great lengths, even for a stranger. He became a Soul Reaper (or Shinigami) to protect his family. He's a protection nut. Also, he has a temper which makes him act like an idiot.

Well, a big chunk of the plot, around that part of the series, revolves around them trying to save Orihime, and Ichigo trying to deal with his inner hollow away from everyone else.

When you see the episode where Orihime declares her love, you will understand what I'm talking about. It wasn't really that sudden. (I've seen all of the episodes up to 227)

I agree that Ichigo is equally protective of all his friends, but it seems that the plot revolves a lot around Ichigo trying to save Orihime, there's a lot of dark twists in the story too, then it ever did around Ichigo trying to save Rukia. When he was in Soul Society, he was just mostly running around fighting everyone. While in Hueco Mundo, him and Orihime are physically together for several episodes at a time.

I, seriously, have nothing against Rukia, I do like her, but I just don't see her together with Ichigo. The spark that was there at the beginning of the series is long gone.

I can understand that. It may simply be that I can't stand Orihime. (Sorry.) Though, the Soul Society seasons were in the beginning, about Ichigo achieving strength. I assume Orihime's rescue would be more about Ichigo overcoming the obstacle that is the hollow inside. And the hollow is a deeper and uglier mountain to climb than mere ability. I actually just like Ichigo and Rukia's funny relationship (arguments) But, I see something in the way that they are the only ones who can make the other react that way -- and if anyone else was like that to Ichigo it probably means they're not on good terms. Its the exact opposite for Rukia.
