As the Hollywood writers get lazier and lazier to think of new movies, they are getting a trend of taking Korean Movies and remaking them (totally or just the language exchange with different cast) for American Viewers.

Il-Mare = The Lake House
My Sassy Girlfriend
My Wife's a Gangster
Marrying the Mafia
The Tale of Two Sisters
Addiction/Possession
Chaser
Old Boy
JSA

are all movies that are said to have been already presold to certain movie companies such as dreamworks, universal pictures, miramax and more.

It's great the Korean movies are finally getting recognized by Hollywood and is good enough for Americans to want to come and buy movies that they couldn't come up with...but I'm starting to wonder if the Korean movies are really getting recognition if the story is altered and presented in different ways.....

I actually saw the trailer from Addiction/Possession (Sarah Michelle Gellar) and it was daunting to me that they took the story but made it so obvious of the whole storyline in their teaser. (CONTAINS SPOILERS~!!!) The way that the Korean movie was presented....it really shocked you by surprise, the ending of course...
But the American's trailer has Sarah skeptical about it from the start (which really isn't a surprise) but has her actually finding clues to assumptions...in the trailer....

Maybe it's because I've already saw the movie and know what to expect..

Anyways, long story short, what's your opinion about remaking movies..
Should it be copied scene by scene like what they did with "The Grudge" with American actors? or should they just change it up to fit in with the society, even if it deterioates the movie or original director's intentions?

I dont think remaking it promoting korean movies coz they never get credit, only few get recognized coz enough ppl know about the original itself. I was greatly disappointed with my sassy girl and original is one of my favorite. course they couldnt capture the spirit of the original, the american actors were awful i couldnt even finish it, the original i watch it over and over! I dont know the solution either though. I personally dont think there should be remakes though coz even american movies, indian movies when redone are horrible!
