i liked digimon back when i was in middle-high school , but now its just like Power rangers, pokemon, and yugio just in it for the money now, i honestly dont think most of those shows will end anytime soon seeing as in people wont stop haveing kids anytime soon. So if you wanna stop anime like that just make people stop haveing kids till the youngest person in the worlds like 40....Good luck if you do try that tho lol

People say digimon went down after the second season. Some say it was after the first season.
I actually thought that digimon improved when they put a new "thing" in the third season. New characters, new STRORIES, new crushes. I think The third series saw its peak.
Then, when they reindroduce the digi-world and added some legendary ANCIENT digimon that represents ELEMENTS it went WAY down.
Digimon somewhat improved in saver/ digital squad, but it overall it did not really appear to me. The company were hitting an "older" age group. However, they did get rid of the "element" factor to the people. With the squad and "elements" combined with big robots, it would have become a Super Sentai series...lol
I believe that they should show the evil devious aspects of humans. In the other series, digimon were depicted evil because the digimon BELIEVED humans were evil. Make that change and it will become great. mmm...Though, I am not sure if the bad humans should affiliate themselves with the seven sin digimon.
Also, There should only be a number between 2-7 of digidestineds.
Have the main hero a heroin.

Ah Digimon.

I will not lie, Digimon Tamers is easily my all-time favorite anime. Bar none.

The thing is that a lot of people have not seen digimon recently and rely on nostalgia. When was the last time you saw Digimon Adventure '99? I recently rewatched Tamers, and truly appreciate what it did.

In my opinion Tamers is the best season followed in order by Digimon Savers, Adventure '99, Frontier, and at rock bottom digimon adventure '02. The fact that I have so little regard for '02 saddens me to the fact that it is the first to be shown with official subtitles. Let it be known that I would pay any amount of money to acquire Digimon Tamers with subs. Any amount.

Digimon Tamers was a treat. The characters had depth and growth, the interactions were perfect, the plot was strong, and the feeling behind it was exceptional. I would truly love to be able to see a subtitled version of episode 35 of Tamers. If I had to choose a favorite episode of anime period it would be episode 35 of digimon Tamers, for that is when the show ramped up exceptionally. It was episode 35 for a young me to realize how good the entire show had been. The boring episodes in the beginning were utterly necessary to reach this height of writing. I really cannot point to a single character in Tamers that was a bad character nor point to any real episode as a bad episode. There is some definite meandering in the twenties but that is to be expected and understood in a good character driven story.

More than that I would lay down and worship any person who can acquire and translate a copy of the short novel that goes with Tamers that tells the story of the original monster makers. In fact to the people that translated Chiaki J. Konaka's site so that we could hear from the man behind it himself I salute you something grand. In fact just about anything the man touches (Big O, Lain, RahXephone, Giant Robo, Narutaru) pretty much turns to gold in my mind. I am an unrepentant fan of him and Digimon Tamers is why.

Digimon Savers went completely differently and appealed to my love of awesome. Despite a somewhat meandering first 11 episodes the shear power of the story from 12 onward is amazing. The characters are nowhere near as deep as Savers, the story isn't nearly as driven by them, and the plot isn't quite as strong but the power of the series is the shounen aspect. They nail it. They have characters that work, villains to root against, and fights worth watching. The show truly hits it big the moment they introduce Akihiro Kurata, a villain who truly ranks up there for his cruelty, bigotry, and capacity for utter atrocity. The show slows down after his defeat, but the power of it's awesome and working characters keeps it going to a satisfying ending. More than I could say for either of the Adventure installments.

Digimon Adventure '99 (season one) is middle of the road in my mind. It was a necessary evil but the ability of the characters to change, the story to go somewhere, and for formulas to be broken made me the anime fan I am today. I was introduced at the ground floor to interesting characters, developing stories, and interesting plots, and when I compared it to Pokemon there was simply no contest. I cashed in my Pokemon chips and moved on to the better show.

The problem with '99 is that it is simply overshadowed by Tamers and Savers in character, story, and feeling. They needed to make the formula before it would be perfected in 2 years later. Adventure '99 is still leagues better than many many anime, I look at the current big three and am saddened by how an anime for 8-year-olds is better than one for 14-year-olds.

Digimon Frontier had a truly interesting dynamic that never really is used well. There are some genuinely good episodes in the series, I would say that around the time Duskmon first appears Frontier is actually better than Savers or Adventure and even a lot of Tamers, but the average is rather sad. There is so much squandered potential. We have episodes that try and develop the characters but never get anywhere, such asthe episode immediately after Takuya returns and outmaneuvers the enemy team for example. Yet the lessons learned there are never used again. We have Tomoki overcoming his patheticness to beat Tomoki or Junpei facing himself or even Kouji being told that he really can't do it all alone. And there are truly amazing episodes like Mercuremon's battle in the church or Velgmon's defeat. Powerful stuff. But these are the exception and not the rule.

Worse the series turns sharply downhill after the appearance of the Royal Knights. I don't like episodes where the heroes lose repeatedly to the Implacable man/men/mons for the sake of plot. Which is what is done. And the entire ending of the show is truly awful. The lack of the rest of the team having any use at all is sickening, Kouichi barely getting development is horrible compared to how much Ken gets, in fact the entire last 12 episodes feels phoned in. I simply do not like admitting that Frontier ends as it does. I like to believe that 38 on is simply a bad fever dream. And in fact if it had been a 37 episode series I have little doubt many would hail it as one of the better digimon series.

I have little to no love for Digimon Adventure '02. To any who are fans I apologize but I cannot appreciate a series that gets progressively worse from the halfway point. Part of the problem is that I don't think the writers knew where to go after the defeat of the Kaiser. So we meander, meet a pair of villains with unusual abilites, and sort of meander some more with an implacable mon going around winning every fight, then we get a break where we meander around the world, meet a villain and get rid of him through one of the few things I will call a Deus ex Machina, then meander their way to an unsatisfactory conclusion. The ending is like sleepwalking.

A major problem with the second half is that we are given a number of ways that the characters of the new children will progress as characters, we are given to expect this will happen in the future tough situations, and then we are cheated out of said growth. I really do not see Daisuke changing an iota from start to finish. He may not be the same as Taichi but he certainly is not a well-made character either. Miyako is simply ignored by the ending, Iori is given some growth but no resolution to his story, Takeru never sees what a zealot he's become, Hikari's complexes are used and discarded as necessary to the plot, and Ken is forced into development that is strong but stomach-sinkingly generic. The first 22 or so episodes of '02 are fine episodes, but hey aren't as good as even the mediocre episodes from Savers or Tamers or good episodes from Frontier or '99. A big problem again is that the writers didn't seem to know where they were going. I strongly feel that Konaka had Tamers planned from start to finish, while when given the opportunity of a sequel to a good anime the new team simply couldn't get it together. I firmly believe Tamers was given to Konaka simply for writing Episode 13.

As for a 6th season the problem would of course be making something new and something good. The formula of layered evolution is necessary, but how they would reinvent the wheel is something to be seen. Personally I would love to see D-Chronicle (on which X-Evolution is loosely based) over any 6th season, but that's just me.

Digimon was one of the very first anime I watched in my childhood and up to now it still has a place in
my favorites list. The only season I didn't like was digimon savers/data squad it was not like the other
seasons it was like a totally different anime already but that's just me...

I thought digimon only had five seasons? Where did eight come from?

Adventure
Zero two
Tamers
Frontier
Data Squad

Basicly The first and second seasons kicked ass, period. Tamers was ok, and Frontier was my favorite, but once Data Squad came out it started getting gay. And how can you even try to compare Digimon to Pokemon? They're basiclly the same damn thing but with a different plot.

Both of their names end with -mon.
They both have super deformed animals of some kind.
Pokeball, Detectors is this ringing a bell?
Each have different forms of evolution.
Each have crazy people trying to take over the world.
BOTH talk about friendship and teamwork ALL THE TIME!
And there are battles, lots and lots of battles.

Those are only a few things I can think of, but I'm sure there's more.
