FUNimation Entertainment Officially Launches on Hulu

Anime Fans Can Watch High-Quality Episodes
Online, Legally, for Free

FLOWER MOUND, TX, November 7, 2008 -- FUNimation Entertainment has partnered with the online video service Hulu to launch high-quality anime episodes of its titles on Hulu.com.

Debuting this week on the video web site are episodes from Shuffle!, Peach Girl and Slayers. These series join new episodes from Black Blood Brothers, Blue Gender, MoonPhase and Mushi-Shi and add to the wide-variety of FUNimation series that can now be found on Hulu.com, including Shikebane Hime, Kiddy Grade, Mr. Stain on Junk Alley, and XXXHOLiC

In the following months, viewers can go to www.Hulu.com to access nearly 150 episodes and approximately 75 hours of free on-demand programming from FUNimation Entertainment's library. Additional content will be added on a monthly basis.
On Hulu.com, consumers can enjoy one of the largest selections of legal, free videos from more than 50 top broadcast networks, cable networks, movie studios and web-centric content providers. Hulu offers 100 full-length feature films and 400 television series with hundreds of videos added to the site each week.

“We support Hulu's mission of making legitimate, professionally produced content easily available,” said Gen Fukunaga, president and CEO of FUNimation Entertainment. “Plus, the wide reach of Hulu not only allows fans to catch an episode they may have missed but offers viewers a way to discover new shows.”

Anime fans will also be able to take advantage of additional tools Hulu offers to enhance the viewing experience, including full-screen view, a pop-out window, a 'lower lights' feature and much more. Other features allow users to easily clip, share and embed videos on other web sites, including blogs and social networking sites.

True, especially the first one.
But crunchyroll has the edge on the other sites because of the enormous community and loopholes in the copyright laws.

I am really interest on what the Executive of crunchyroll will say in this conference about crunchyroll.

Yes it is. This is a nice step along the way to the rehabilitation of Anime.
Though, this is only available in North America.

I don't mind DUB. Maybe I should watch it to just to see this "good" part.

could this be opposition To CR
Seems clear that FUNimation will never team up with CR unlike GONZO and Toei

FUNimation is much bigger than both GONZO and Toei.
Yes, this is probably a respond to crunchyroll.

Though, considering what is being released on HULU, crunchyroll gets directly from the studios (SUBS) same day as it is being broadcast, and FUNimation, a U.S.A. branch, is releasing things that have already been released in North America. This is kind of interesting, and I want to see how this turns out.

And also this, since you mentioned that this move by FUNimation to counter crunchyroll:

Funimation is the only one left in licensing anime in the US im pretty sure there gonna down next. ADV already gave up licensing and decided to be a distribution company only.

1. ADV - there gonna get bankrupt soon im pretty sure of it they already started not license anime anymore.
2. Geneon entertaiment - well there already bankrupt.
3. Funimation - may last for a few years but there gonna get bankrupt sooner or later.

this is just my opinion but i won't buy some anime DVD box set if i haven't seen the whole series yet. i bought a Evangelion box set because i already watched it and really liked it.
