Well, people are going to jump down my throat, but I support the war. Still, I think Prince Harry could have used his position to do more for the war-cause than he can by using his body and gun...

No, I don't think it is fair that Harry should not be allowed to join the fight. But, then again, I don't think it is fair to the people who he is with to have their chances of dying increased, even if only a little, just so some glory-hog youth with aspirations of martial valor can get his way and look good.

thats your opinion and people shouldnt have a problem with that. As usual society is plagued with inequality. I`m not suprised at the least. The just wanna raise the moral of the troops. Its not like they have much of a choice in refusing in the matter. The prince could join the fight but he doesnt wanna do it willingly enough.
(and I mean arguing for hrs with his superiors to do so)

eh... Us shoulda nvr put troops there...but anywayz. oh i see what u mean that its bad to hav em out there, but i disagree i think there rlly isnt anything wrong wif that. i think he should actually. i mean id imagine if u were a soldier it would giv u an extra sense of pride to be fighting alongside with your leader and thus help bring up their fighting spirit but of course it would b bad if he was captured

^yea I know what you mean. But I`m gonna assume the front lines wont be his outpost. He`d probaly be giving orders from a secure zone. I mean 1 person cant neccesarily make a difference in war. But a powerful (political and social status) could make the overall difference. Just because he puts on a military suit, doesnt mean hes suitabel for war.

I thought this thread was gonna have something to do with Xena. Or Prince of Persia. What a letdown.

I like that he was quoted saying arse.

No further comment.

Did you read the article? The Prince was mad when they were not going to send them out, threatened to quit if they didn’t send him in.

Whatever the case, you said I should have no problem with it because society is full of inequalities? Society is also full of murder, starvation, and AIDS. Still, I’ll do my part in putting an end to those too. (Well, maybe not murder cuz I’ll end up in jail for being a vigilant. Or, more likely, deadified.) Just because something is common doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be fought. I dunno though, maybe it’s a pointless fight, but should bother everybody. Or at least catch their interest. … That’s kind of how I see it. Of course, that's just my opinion. Like you said.

This is an article from the yahoo news. Basically talks about the British prince, Harry, (third in line to the throne) and his military career. Apparently he was deployed to Iraq despite the obvious set backs of sending somebody of his status onto the battlefields.

So, what are your thoughts on the matter? I almost find this to be a form of necessary prejudice. Some may call it discrimination against blue-bloods, however I don’t think they should allow royalty to serve on the battlefields. Why? Because it places his fellow soldiers in extra danger, and gives the enemy a chance to capture a powerful bartering chip. Then again, throughout most of history, kings and leaders have served with their men. Some benefits to this would be that it destroys the illusion that the leaders are, “Sipping their wines and eating their stake” in the soldier’s mind. It also encourages them to fight better and work harder.

I don’t know. I guess it would be unfair to Harry to say he couldn’t fight. None the less, there are times when fascist behaviors are necessary for a government. I think perhaps letting him go to Iraq is the morally right thing to do, but not necessarily the correct thing to do. It’s quite risky, don’t you think?

P.S, Look! A relatively short thread post! Aren't you proud of me?!

Hey I think its really admirable of him. Most politicians just sit back and wage war, while they would never send their own children onto the battlefield. This guy seems like he actually wants to help out his fellow people. And about the bargaining chip, what Iraq would recognize him with his head shaved and military gear on, assuming they are heavily knowledgeable about British politics?
