I admit it is a nice feeling to be asked out by a girl, albeit sometimes a bit awkward tho. It does make you feel worth something to know that at least someone does like you. I always used to think that no one liked me, but a girl did eventually ask me out. Unfortunately it wasn't a girl I could return my feelings to. I felt bad, but I didn't want to get into a relationship where all I'm doing is just acting. Now I'm sort of on the other end of the spectrum, chasing after a girl I genuinely do care for.

Gender doesn't matter there. I am pretty close to asking a girl out myself. I'm not asking her because I'm a guy, and I don't know how she feels about me so I'm not just gonna sit around and wait. I'm asking her out because I want to be in a relationship with her. And yes, I am also really shy, but I'm not going to let that keep me away from what I want to have.

Don't ever let your shyness hide your true feelings for someone. I'm glad I told the girl I like how I feel, and now I'm waiting on her decision. Even if things don't turn out well, I won't regret it.

But, based on experience HOW you make the approach can make a huge amount of difference if you don't know the girl (guy) well. It is sad but first impressions do matter especially to the more materialistic girls (guys). You just don't want to get the kiss of death line too early "lets just be friends". I've had that said to me and have used it myself hides in a corner.
