Quickly skimming the thread, I noticed that it was mostly the 16-&-under girls that are adhering to the whole traditional guys ask first deal. Perhaps it's because they're still clouded by the whole romantic-ideal.
As you get older, you'll notice that most girls don't really follow that crap. They take what they want, when they want. That includes guys.
I don't really mind being asked out by a girl. I enjoy it, especially when I feel the same way as she does. The tough part is when I don't and I have to reject her. It's a bummer, since I also know how she must be feeling right about then but that's life. Get depressed for a few days and you get over it.
