Kyoko did not deserve to be used like that! I know how it feels to be used, so I really do not like him at all.

I really don't like him at all, even though he is quite good looking, I really dislike his personality. He is such an egoistic and spoiled brat (sorry sho's fans ^^)

It totally pisses me off!!

I loathe Sho in the beginning. I seriously hated Sho but now Yoshiki Nakamura is making my hatred for Sho slowly melt!! No matter what, I still love Ren but Sho is getting farther from being in the jerk catagory!! I don't want to like him!!! I want to continue to dislike him!! I want to hate Sho so much but she's making it hard too!!

Kyoko is for Ren!! I will always love you Ren!!

Not at all. You know, I don't think Sho really took Kyouko along to Tokyo just so she could be his maid. I mean, he was around a lot more in the beginning; the problems didn't start until he got popular. And from the flashbacks, it seems like he got along pretty well with Kyouko in the beginning, too. I think he took her along mostly for emotional support. He didn't want to be alone in a strange city. Also, you notice that Sho gets his manager to take care of him when she comes into the picture. He's affectionate toward her, but he also depends on her a lot. So it's like he didn't need Kyouko as much anymore.

It was wrong for Sho to treat Kyouko like that, but... he couldn't really love her. She devoted her life to serving him, and they weren't equals. Kyouko didn't have any interests of her own, and she never stood up for herself. He couldn't respect her because she didn't respect herself. Sho couldn't relate to Kyouko because she put herself below him; she wasn't on his level. Basically, Sho treated Kyouko like a maid because that was the role she assumed herself. That's why it's easy to believe that he actually does love her later, because she's become a much stronger person. She has an attractive personality at that point. You know, I think that Sho maybe didn't intend to really dump Kyouko like that. I think he was tired of her behavior and stopped coming around for that reason, and then he talked about her immaturely. But I think he always cared about her more than he let on, even if he doesn't know it. He didn't mind using her, but he always worried about her when she was upset over something like her mother.

And you know, Kyouko used Sho, too, in her own way. It wasn't mean like what Sho did, but... She basically put him in the role of her prince so she could live out her Cinderella fantasy. Kyouko had always been scorned by people like her mother, so she felt like the only way people would care about her was if she was useful to them. That's where she found her self-worth, and that's what she staked her happiness on. So waiting on Sho made Kyouko feel good about herself, and she was also depending on that to make her happy. She was dependent upon him for her self-worth and her happiness. That's a lot of pressure to put on another person. It's like she was trying to make him love her, and that's bad. No one wants to feel obligated to someone else. Also, Kyouko didn't really treat Sho like a real person. She ignored his flaws and preferred to see him as her "prince" than as who he really was. That's almost like saying that the real Sho wasn't good enough, he had to be an ideal for Kyouko.

I'm not really sure whether Kyouko really ever loved Sho in the first place. I think she cared about him as a friend, but she didn't get depressed when she found out the truth. I mean, I wouldn't expect her to mope around all the time, but it seems like she would have been at least a little sad. But the only thing she got sad about how she had wasted her life waiting on Sho. I think that Kyouko probably thought she was in love with Sho, but she was really in love with living out her fairy-tale life. Subconsciously, of course. I feel like it could've been someone else for her.

Anyway, I couldn't hate Sho. He's just too adorable. It's so cute how he's so childish. It's so funny when he acts like a little kid to his manager, or thinks about how wonderful he is, or loses his temper. I think Sho, more than being mean, was just immature. He was selfish with Kyouko the way a spoiled kid would've been. He's started to grow up a little now and take more responsibility, and that's really sweet, too. That scene where he took Kyouko that scar cream was just adorable. I think I really prefer Kyouko with Ren, but I like her with Sho, too. I love love/hate relationships, and their arguments are just adorable. You can tell how close they are. But I think Nakamura plans it so we don't ever like Sho/Kyouko too much. I noticed that instead of saying that he cares about Kyouko in vol. 15, he says she's still "his." I don't like his possessiveness. I think that's his childishness again, but it's still selfish. I do wish Kyouko would get over her hatred, though. As long as she's after revenge, she's still letting Sho determine her worth. She can only feel satisfied when he admits that she's won. I hope she realizes that eventually.

What a wise comment...I sort of envy your awareness...

I agree with most of what you said. I get angry whenever they say Sho dumped Kyoko or Kyoko loved him like if they were boyfriend and girlfriend. I feel like yelling, "They were childhood friends!! Never lovers!!" I see their relationship more a family type, like brother and sister. Though, now Sho is considering her as a love potential.

I love this long reply. I will think that Kyoko and Sho will be better off as friends than lovers (after reading this post ^^) while Kyoko and Ren will be as lovers =D

I'll agree with your assessment of Sho - he is immature and childish, more than that, he's confident of himself, perhaps displaying his confidence so much that it becomes arrogance... If I'm not wrong, he's 18, yes? Then that can explain his insensitivity at the beginning of the story and he has changed little by little as the plot progresses (= I think I like Sho because he has a vast character change in the story - one that I will say make-up of a good character in dramatic stories.

Sho's actually 17 years old right now. FYI.

i read the manga.......
and shotaro is falling in love... with kyoko....

actually i can relate to this kyoko...i feel as if...im her...well because of her failed love.....and thoughts about love
this is just so true to life...nice nicde...amazing!

shoutaro in the manga will see kyoko in a different light....and will realize that she is the only one who can understand him the best....even though kyoko hates shoutaro...she still cares for him...

the manga makes me cry sometimes...kyoko really shut her heart from loving...and when ren showed up...she started feeling a feeling she doesnt want to remember and acknowledge...it seems as if some part of her still belongs to shotaro...and shotaro to her...and ren will fall in love with kyoko..i dont know why but whenever shoutaro and kyouko meets up..the feeling of excitement and feeling of realization always strikes me....hehe...they are so cute and at the same time i feel sad for the two...because a lot has happened between the two of them...then shotaro just threw it as if it was nothing...and then kyoko every single memory he have for him is considered as a horrid and disgusting memory which she solemly wants to erase... well as far as i can see it seems she will end up with ren...although sometimes i feel like wavering... cuz shoutaro is begnning to change...and becoming more like a man. it's so difficult to choose..i love ren and i love shotaro... whenever shotaro and kyoko are together I feel as if all my excitement and love is being revive...weird... i dont care who'll kyoko will end up with...when you talk about right thing...It should be ren and when you talk about first love and reasons...it's shotaro...
but ren...is more preferable because he's kinder and morew compose and they have a short memory in the past with kyoko..
but i feel sad for shotaro...i also like shotaro's character...oh im so confuse...
