I live in my uncle's place right now that I'm in college so the food is always homecooked, but when I go to college, I eat all sorts of unhealthy junk there. At first the super low prices of food in India shocked me, but that quickly turned to pleasant surprise

instant noodles are not enough nutritive..at least they are not good if consumed regularly for more than a month.

a sandwich would be a lot more better, and nutritive since you can fill it with various vegetables and meat.

it's really important to eat nutritious stuff so that you don't end up like shinto male, and that would be tired and unable to focus.

i'd always make myself a little lunch box.

If your school's meal plan is anything like my school's, I wouldn't recommend it to someone who's already struggling. Mine was kind of useful but added a crapload of $$ a semester to your bill, didn't rollover, and was only required for a year.

I assure you OP, I don't think even half the people there are rich and get a daily/monthly allowance. A lot of people do struggle and it IS tough. A lot of my friends I met in my first year actually took a semester or two off because they couldn't afford it. Others didn't get a good ticket for the lottery and was basically left homeless. And then if you managed to bypass those you'd still have troubles registering for classes if the last semester's bill wasn't paid off... And now financial aid is getting harder and harder to come by because the economy's in the crapper.

Sigh.

All I can say to any college student who's struggling is look for jobs, apply for scholarships, eat cheap, buy in bulk and try to cook as much as you can. Stay optimistic and if your parents can, ask them to help you out. If you live close to your school, live. at. home. I know it's not the 'ideal college life', but it saves a lot of dough. Take a year or two off and go to community college if you have to. !!! STAY OPTIMISTIC !!!
