Are Tuners and Muscle Cars The SAME?

Over here that's pretty much how it is. If I wanted, I could build a muscle car cheaper than most tuners and still spend less to make it faster. Vice versa.

but anyways, hahahahaa im just kidding but its true thats how it is most of the time, internet arguments about this subject are completely stupid, wait no, all of them are stupid in general, would you say this to a someone in person, obviously not, you;d end up getting your ass kicked.


What I find hilarious is that most people always think one type is better than the other based only on personal bias.

I mean you could buy a shitbox for about 2000AUD. Lets say commodore VL. Slap an LS1 in there that's about 5500-6000AUD Inc installation. So for about 8k you got some work done. Then you throw in your 2 turbos, exhaust, tune etc which runs about 13000-16000 here. Then you might want a BNM shifter if it's auto. 800AUD. So what, that's about 24800 for a fairly quick car. There was a VL Berlina that was at 550rwhp built for 25k. That's pretty cheap. It's fucking quick.

Now do the same with a skyline. You rebuild yourself a new RB engine. A place down here as it for 4650 fitted. Then you got another set of turbos etc which again is about 10 - 12k here.. Shifter etc etc. You would rarely break 40k with builds like this. Note that this is Australian standards.

But a lot of the arguments are based on stock comparisons. A lot of the time tuners do come out on top in a lot of aspects because most are forced induction right off the assembly line.

Agreed.

I've already grown out of the prepubescent stage of 'omg this car's better than your car!'.

In the end, everyone should just build a car for themselves and enjoy it. If you aren't satisfied with it, keep working on it.
After all, none of the people talking shit will ever drive your car. =P

Whatever happened to the days where we'd all meet up at a sanctioned race track (1320, blocked-off drift track, etc) and just go at it wagering burgers or starbucks?

Back in my day, I once lost to a very well built '73 mach1. I owed him a #1 combo from In'n'Out burger. We ate at a table, chatted about our cars, and ignored the posers with the lawnmower exhausts trying to do 1/8mile runs in the parking lot.

what i still find really sad is that you have 40 year olds on youtube saying there car is better than this and that, c'mon seriously, people, you need to grow up

I agree with you both.

I finally bought my car and am looking into possible builds. Unfortunately I have to be careful with what I put in. Media has scared Australians into thinking V8's are hoons cars.

There's an LS1 Skyline here in Perth. I was quite amazed when I heard about it. Proof you can have the best of both worlds.
