My grandparents used to have a farm. I used to watch them while they were killing the animals.
I was still young and i had no feelings. I was only thinking about how delicious they were going to prepare that food for me.
Actually my heart hurts when i hear about animal cruelty.

Peta's protests are too extreme and pathetic. I feel sorry for them.
Just because they show some good looking nude boys and girls, the people will stop eating meat? Bullshit!

I'd stop eating meat in the presence of the hot, naked, PETA protesters at least. Better result then a bunch of whiny people with signs.

They are bred and born to be slaughtered. It's like that dumb law that passed in california a little while ago, i forgot exactly what it was. But it went somewhere along the lines as to give chickens/hens proper living conditions before slaughter etc. So thus proper living conditions = more space, more space = costly for the farmers, costly for the farmers = inflation on our chicken. This is outrageous, simply put, there needs to be a good median between the two and I honestly think it's fine the way it is right now. They're going to die anyways, why should we tend to their life only to hurt ours? I feel we are the "superior" race on this planet, thus there is a reason they're being slaughtered.

Im sure you wouldn't think that way if YOU were the animal , and humans were in charge of TAKING CARE of the animals

I honestly don't know if i would think that way because I am unsure on how well chickens comprehend english. Do they know they're going to be killed? Do they know they're in bad living conditions? If you're born from the start with only knowing this is my cage, then do you know better? I refer to Plato's Allegory of the Cave here.. I honestly am not a HUGE fan of animal cruelty as all of my dogs that I've owned have been picked up off the streets or from shelters. I'm specifically saying that if they're born to be slaughtered why are we tending to their needs only to hurt ours? I think it's great that there are people who are all for animal's rights, because they do deserve some. But in this case, i think otherwise. Hell, i might even join Peta because of all the hot nude chicks who think being nude shows they're one with the animal or what not, cool beans.

I have no idea why meat needs to be cheap. If you want some piece of meat then pay accordingly? ;/

Back in the days, people ate meat just once every half year, or maybe less, thus the meat consumption was also very low, and meat actually HAD a value to it and people cherished it more, which is one of the reasons why people didn't consume too much meat.

Saying that we are omnivores doesn't justify the fact that we, indeed, consume too much meat. We don't need that much meat. Once a month should suffice.

No wonder that people are growing fatter and fatter with each day when they consume meat every fucking day.

Honestly Flo, light of my life. When I lived at home I consumed red meat almost everyday, but was still the same weight I am now. It's how people cook, prepare, and how much they eat. Like I would eat like 120 calorie steaks, 270m calorie burgers that would be maybe...400 with cheese if I was especially hungry. It is the quantity of what people eat in accordance to their metabolism that makes them fat. Pl;us I've known some fat vegetarians and heroine addicts(way to do it wrong). Its how much and what kind of meat you eat that makes you fatty fat. Americans like to eat a lot of greasy meat/food. I personally think that why we are fat. They did a study where if you eat two slices of pizza a week(which I do, but I remove the grease cause..ew.) and you don't remove the grease, in a year you will have consumed enough grease to fill a standard size jar.So, I kind of believe its because food isn't scarce in general that we are fat. We are surrounded by restaurants , food stores, convience stores, all filled with whatever we need when we want it. Back in the day, you got like a trip to the market on market day, and hope you could haggle to get enough for th e week.

And to anyone who is pro-Peta, they believe in the killing of domestic animals. They have killed domestic animals. Do your research mother fuckers. Woo aren't they awesome and saying the world from evil meat eaters and fur wearers?

I'm talking about the whole world getting fat. Look at China...they consume five times as much meat as they used to a few years ago; result - fat.

It's like meat here meat there, can't even get a salad without meat. I have nothing against meat consumption, but I have something against people who seemingly "can't" survive without their daily steak, and then aren't even willing to pay a nice sum for it.

I know some fat vegans/etc, and they suffer from a hormonal problem (hypothyroidism, and other hormonal conditions which remain in most cases undiagnosed), however those who are fat represent like 0.01% of the whole vegan/vegetarian/pescetarian population and I think it's safe to assume that most of those fat vegetarians/etc do suffer from an undiagnosed/diagnosed medical condition.

Yes, of course the preparation of the meat and what kind of meat people are consuming plays a big role, too. And yes, metabolism is an important factor, too, however this won't change the fact that most of the fatties are regular meat consumers. >_>

Taking into account the massive population growth naturally people will need more food supply. But in fact, the need for more meat didn't just increase because of the population growth. One person eats at least three times as much meat s they used to a few years ago.

Yeah, I'm a bit speculating with the (five times as much, etc), but I can't be arsed to go search for some statistics slightly under stress so this is a rash post D: will see in the evening.
