Well, its hard to say. But I don't think it'll be Japanese manga. But you need to make sure you'll willing to do it because making manga isn't easy. A lot of ideas get turned down.

Not really. Unless you want it to be in actual japanese and you want it to be set in japan, if thats the case bust open google and search up a bunch o crap about culture and free online lessons for japanese. Best to write what you know and are familiar with, then you wont need to do a lot of research into different languages and cultures, and people who are familiar with the culture wont pick it up and say 'This is bullshit, things are completely different.'. Good luck making a manga : D

No, other countries make manga. Gothic Sports for example is a German manga.
Manga is just a japanese term for graphic novel/comic book anyway.
Hope you have some good stuff, highly competitive career path!

Gothic sports is published by tokyopop.
You can get things published with tokyopop, it'd just be harder, since they're only publish so many a year. You could always self publish with Diamond Comic Distributors, but, the western market isn't as good as the Japanese.

No, you don't need to know Japanese to make manga. Manga is the japanese word for comic, I think. So, basically what you probably want to do is draw comics. It's just that every country, every where, every person have a different style of drawing.

It really depends on what you are drawing. If you are drawing something based in Japan, I would think you would do research about their culture, customs, etc. If you are not drawing something about Japan, then you don't need to know about it.

In general terms, in which most people define manga, yes as long as you know the attributes of a manga which I'm sure you do. If you want to get more technical though, no unless it's written and published in Japan because we call comics from Japan, manga. Then again, manga is what japanese call ALL comics no matter what country to so to Japanese eyes you would be creating a manga.

It's really iffy topic, but I guess yes you can make a manga, but whether or not your readers accept it as manga depends on lots of factors and their views on the topic.

(Oh and I hope no one gets offended that I called manga, comics. But really that's what they are, it's just that people don't like it for what it implies)

yes i think you should becuz every manga i've seen is drawn best when its in japanese! I read some of those American mangas and their way of drawing isn't relly interesting so sames goes for the story, you don't have to be fully fluent in japanese but i guess it helps if you learn da language somewhat so the major japanese publishing companies can understand your style.
