Humans are animals, I don't think anyone should be arguing against that, that's just a matter of the definition of the word. But I don't see what your point is, some apes beat humans in short term memory games? Cool, well humans took over the world and apes are still throwing feces at each other. But it's still pretty close...

Technical note, Human beings are apes. Great apes tho, Humans along with Chimpanzees, Gorillas, and Orangutans, are all members of the Hominidae family, so we are all great apes. Technically an ape is any member of the Hominoidea superfamily of primates, which includes both the Hylobatidae which includes all the various species of gibbon and the Hominidae family consisting of chimpanzees, gorillas, humans and orangutans. So humans are apes.

But I agree with you, Modern humans took over the world, mainly because of our intelligence, which was matched by nothing execpt homo neanderthalis which would have come pretty close on an intelligence comparison. Doesn't necessarily mean were always going to stay at the top tho. I mean if chimps or gorillas happened to evolve and obtain the same intelligence as us, we'd be screwed.

Yes humans are animals I do agree with that but why are humans the only creature that arrived on top? If gorillas and other primates are as smart as we are why are we the sole rulers of this world? This topic actually leaves more questions than it answers.

Eh? I thought Neanderthals were also humans, right?
Sorry, I don't have basic knowledge about this.

According to one of Darkpheonix's hundreds of topics on neanderthals, they were killed by humans because they were outnumbered. idk about the specifics though.

survival of the fittest......take for example take 2 packs of wolves, equal intelligence, same amount of wolves in each pack, except one pack is bigger and meaner than other, all competiting each other inside the enclosed ...say 10 acres of land with limited amounts of game animals, wouldnt you assume that , the 2 wolf packs would fight each other to death, until one pack is victorious? same theory apply with the early humans, they found competition with other "intelligent" primate on a verge of evolution into human-like state, and when they met, the early human must not have liked how they looked or how they smelled, and they fought until the human won....all my theory, of course

Hmmm..... what's the point a human killing another human beings?
Was it because race issues or something that Neanderthals were different than another human's being?

Competition for food, water and other various resources most likely, with more then one group in the same area competing for the same food supply, water supply, its going to get harder and harder for them, so homo-sapien was probably the first to figure out that simply killing them, meant they no longer had to compete with them for resources.
