oh really?? haven't heard any news about that...

(and here i was about to post a forum about people's preferences on the cast for skip beat live action - although it's not necessarily true that there is one)

but if ever there is such news, i think i still prefer that japan would release a drama version of the anime first than taiwan...
(in such cases, it would be like hana kimi)

I just got recent news about Skip Beat Live Action!
http://asianfanatics.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=599793
If you don't feel like going on the website, it basically says that
Ariel will be Kyoko and Jerry will be Ren.
There's also a lot of comments saying that Jerry shouldn't be Ren and Sho instead.
It also says that the directors wanted Joe Cheng as one of the leads, but Jerry took it.
It will air in 2009.

the manga author appointed Jerry as Ren.

Well, if that's the case, I guess it's okay, But I hope his hair gets dyed or something.

yup...taiwan released first their version of hana kimi live action...but i was kinda disappointed that japan was beaten to producing such series first...but at least, the japanese version had met my expectations and became my favorite...

if ever skip beat will be turned into a live action series, i'd like for japan to create it first since the story is originally japanese...

NNNNOOOOO!!! THIS IS THE WORST THING IN THE WORLD!!!!!!

I can't believe those people! I don't like the fact that the Taiwanese are planning to do this at all! They should find their own stories to direct and produce instead of always taking the Japanese manga's plot! And they had to cast ariel lin and worst of all Jerry Yan! Are you serious?!! This is a huge offense and its the most horrible thing that can be done to "Skip Beat!" They should learn how to back off. The storyline doesn't fit with Taiwanese lifestyle. It's much better for the Japanese to produce since that is where it originated. I don't like how the Taiwanese versions always over exaggerate the acting. The Japanese version never gets a chance. Whenever they make their own version after the Taiwanese one, they are always overlooked. Just like Hana Kimi, and Meteor Garden (Hana Yori Dango). After I saw the Japanese series of Hana Yori Dango, the ways situations were handled better. You can't just have so much gut to stand up to the bad guys. No matter how angry you are, there is always hesitation. Taiwanese dramas are just too much for me. Just when the Anime is finally released, they had to go ahead and spoil it with their version. I'm already at my peak of anguish. If it really comes out, I just might really lose it and destroy the DVD anywhere it is selling.

i agree with some of the comments that the casting does not suit the personality of Ren, Sho and Kyoko... I hope they can find a better casting for this if the manga would really be adapted into a live series... ^_^

No offence but i really think it should be in Jap drama instead becos that is what their environment and culture is expressed in this story... Using a different country with different environment and culture will not fit.

Anyway if really needing for taiwanese cast, then as for male lead..... i think i would prefer Mike He Jun Xiang as Ren. what do u guys think abt Mike?

Well, Taiwan will be used to test the popularity of the manga/anime in live action format b4 it will be filmed in Japan. So I'm not too surprised a Taiwan version will be made first.

And seriously, I can't picture Jerry acting as Ren... and no one comes to my mind who will be able to act out Ren's character good enough.

We can just wait and see though... though i wonder if Japan is going to film it, who can act out the Ren, Kyoko and Sho. I would love to see Shiruta Yuu as Sho, Shun Oguri as Ren and Erika Toda as Kyoko!
