Yes. My dad says I'm crazy since I don't speak korean yet I keep listening to kpop.

I can’t really say my parents have been angry or threaten punishment because I listen to Asian music. They have teased me a bit. For example they ask me what an artist was saying and if I say I don’t know they’ll say something like: “It must have been dirty” . But, overall it’s not that big of a deal.

My mom is a music lover. We both have grown up in the same area but when she was growing up it was whiter. Which I think left her open to different kinds of music. Our running joke has always been music wise “you're scaring the other black people”. I grew up listening to her mix of artists like Queen & Nas, Prince & Simple Red, etc. And if you got a hold of her MP3 player now you might find a few artists like Rain, Se7en, Jinusean, and Rip Slyme do to my “influence” .

Don’t really think Dad cares one way or the other. Just wish I could get him to stop calling them Chinese . I don’t listen to Vietnamese music because he’s Vietnam vet. Don’t want him flipping out or having flashbacks. He too has some stuff on his player but I think it’s only because mom did it.

I only listen to Asian music from Japan and Korea.
As a Japanese girl there isn't really any reason for my parents to comment on my listening of Japanese bands and artists except for my Dad giving me looks when I fan girl too hard.
As for Korean music I made my Mum watch live performances of Love In The Ice and Bolero (both Japanese singles by DBSK) when they were released and she understood why I love them so much and has respect for them as artists.

I'm Spanish and my family thinks its weird that I don't listen to Spanish music. My mom accepted it and says its because I'm special. But, everyone else thinks I'm a freak. That I heard from my dad, brother, and cousins. I don't let it get to me because it's my decision to enjoy this type of music. They can't decide what I can and can't like.

No...fortunately, my family (or the main bits) are actually very open-minded with what I like.. even if they don't always agree, they always try to see things from my point of view. Music was never an issue, really.

Ah it depends sometimes but ... Umm my mom thought I was too obsessive. My father think people would think i was weird. My 17 year old brother thinks they are weird looking. My eight year old brother only likes one song Taeyang's wedding dress and my little sister(4) loves it. My parents have come to deal with it know and my mom listens to it because of my sister so... There's nothing she can do about it.... And my dad used to hate Asian dramas but now he likes them a lot in Netflix and watches them with my mom. My brother was a fan of stairway to heaven in 2004 and watched it with my mom all the time... There's a love hate relationship in general. I don't live with them anymore so what can they do?

My mom doesn't particularly care for it, but I've been able to play it without hearing a lot of complaining.

Not at all, they think it's good that I listen to music from other countries...They aren't into Asian music much but they are very open minded and think more people should listen to music in other languages.

My parents don't even know I listen to Asian music o_o.

My parents tend to make fun of my taste in music either it's english or in any asian language.

They don't get mad but they do make fun of it which upset me at times but then i just listen to it and forget what my parents have said.
