Prove me wrong

Well, yes, most people seem to be rather short of words. But what can you do about it? You must try to make your thread very interesting, try to touch a subject that evokes some emotions in people. Also, you need to take into consideration the various age groups and adapt your subjects/threads to that. Write in dummy format, or write in PhDr format. The latter will most probably seem too complicated for most airheads present in this forum.

Threads that require some brain tend to die in a day, while threads where you can simply post a yes/no reply will stay on top for like a week or so. People come online to enjoy their time, and most don't think of brainstorming as an enjoyable pass time. They like to keep it simple. Of course, this is kind of generic, there are always exceptions, but in this case way too few for that matter.

The general section is not really the place where you'd go for an extended discussion. The ED section would be more appropriate for that matter, but I am kind of bored of the ED section by now, as people keep on discussing about religion, gay people...and I am momentarily too lazy to make some super interesting thread about something interesting which would be worthwhile a discussion.

They had put a character limit to posts just recently, but removed it due to its inefficiency, as character limits are easy to get around.

Yes, I find it sad that people have nothing more worthwhile to post. And some threads, as in topics seem to be so...void, the typical thread a bored CR user would create. Annoying if you ask me. I'd get rid of all of these topics and would demand some REAL topics even if it's just the general section.

Reminder: People, please, don't create some stupid threads of the kind:" What do you feel when you drink Pepsi?" and then in the OP:" Lulz, I was bored, hehehe, so what do you feel when you drink pepsi?" Really, DON'T do it.

I feel like people in crunchyroll don't even read most the posts. After I post something, about 10 other people would be posting at the same time, thus negating what I said. Your well typed and well thought out essay will suddenly be swarmed by a sea of simple "yes" and "no" answers, putting your essay in the middle of a 20 page thread. I feel like people only read the first and the last pages; no one really cares if you're a virgin or not, whether you hate dogs and cats.
This leads to my next point. There is really, very little discussion in the crunchyroll forums. Even when that rare time comes, the discussion is about something other than the prior topic and/or flame wars. I hardly consider one word answers discussion.

The question in my mind is: "Where do you post?" Then another question buzzes in my head: "What do you expect from such section of the forum?"

The majority of users in this community lies within 11yo to 18yo. I know, most of them lie about their age, but such is reality in forums and other kind of online communities. That is why I support the idea of people to post discussions and such kind of threads in the E.D. section, to avoid any kind of inconvenience and unwanted users. The rules are tighter and logically better in that section of the forum.

Yes, there is also the problematic users who only want to create distractions, and be 'cool' in the eyes of others, however they are not many and not to care much about.

^^^^^^^^what floetry said. people should look at my threads to get an idea what a thread should really look like.

^ hell no.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There's a time I made two threads with the same topic just to target certain audience. I can see the wide difference of responses for each thread.

^ ah, most people don't even possess the knowledge to comprehend your question adequately to post an intelligent answer with some thought to it.

People who post in the general section just post for the shits and giggles, and that's about it. Threads like yours die after the 2-4 page.

Your avatar says too much. That's a typical whatsome avatar. Other than that, you...can't convince me. Whatsome has no fangirls. Never.

Some threads are 100+ posts. Do you think it is practical to read every single post?

I've been here for a few months and the general section of the forum is a joke. If you want to post more serious threads that will attract more intelligent users, then post in another forum section that fits the topic of what you're talking about. Also, you can't help it when people get off topic. One topic can lead to another and it happens all the time on the internet and in real life. I came from another forum where if you posted a serious topic in the general section of the forum, they wouldn't take it seriously. However, if the thread was posted in an appropiate section of the forum, then they would get more serious and well-thought of replies (and the threads would last there, seriously, but that's because there aren't as many active members here like on cruncyroll). On another note, I don't waste my time reading threads that contain a kazillion-hundred pages, especially if the question and content of the thread is easy to reply and comprehend. It's all about knowing the people's attitudes and sense of humor in a forum.

All of those boffins who write long posts in forums all lurk in a forum section on CR called the Extended Discussion...

Seriously who reads peoples posts here when most of them have bad grammar...

this an anime website! Of course were not going to talk about life issues and truly discuss them.
I usually read the first and second page of threads....
Forums like Are you a Virgin i dont look at because its stupid and i dont care, but sometimes there are interesting forums.
