Ok so I am reading the news at Anime News Network, that on top of Viz streaming english subbed naruto shippuden a week after it's japanese airing, that TV Tokyo was also going to be streaming it here on CR an hour after it's release.

However reading further into the article, I read this...
"On January 8, Crunchyroll will stop accepting user-submitted videos and other content from individuals, and only host videos approved by copyright holders. Gonzo and Toei Animation are two other major Japanese copyright holders of anime that decided to stream on Crunchyroll. ANN interviewed Crunchyroll founder Vu Nguyen in March"

Now this may not be news to some people, as march was 8 months ago, however it is news to me, and I am not able to find anything else about this incoming change.

So what is going to happen with the user-submitted content already here ? Will it remain ? Other parts of the news article also mentioned something about paid monthly subscribers. (particularly about how the episodes were only going to be available to the paid subscribers)

Will there also be more companies joining crunchyroll after this transition ? Will the current companies here add more series ? Will Crunchyroll be providing more services if it is going to become a paid service ?

There is a lot of things that would be great to know. Something like an FAQ sticky about the upcoming changes I am sure would be appreciated by all.

Ok so the news article may be a duplicate, but my thread isn't about the news article.

I was asking about whats going to happen to crunchy roll. You should really finish reading.

The article is just a back story. If I came in here and started blathering about the crunchy roll changes, some people would be like "huh, what are you talking about"

That is the topic of this thread. Lets keep it on topic. I want to know more about the changes

Shinji, your reactions please.

If the above happens then CR will die which kinda makes me lol. If Shinji has fort against copyright infringement for so long why would he roll over now. Also its away for people to stop spreading of fansubs an the anime because while people watch it for free only true fans will buy the dvd's however unless you stop allowing people to use the the internet then they can never stop it torrents <3

Hey OP, If you finished reading the article yourself you would know the answer to your question. Crunchyroll will host streaming for Naruto, Gintama etc. and stop accepting fansubs.

What some here fail to get is, if CR didn't do this, it would have died out at one point anyway. CR would have been legally responsible for illegal distribution of anime. The companies creating these contents, like the anime studios could have filed a law suit against CR or sent the FBI after them, heck even get the FBI to get all your IP addresses and legally prosecute offenders.

CR made the right choice for its future and now more and more companies will try to join Gonzo, TV Tokyo, Viz, ADV, Media Blasters to try to curb the expansion of fansubs.

This is good news for everyone. The Japanese companies are starting to wake up to try to at least make money with their works through memberships and ad revenue, instead of getting no money from fansubs.

CR is not illegally distributing animes, yet. CR removes Licensed titles per request so it wouldn't get sued. But I agree with you that Shinji made a good decision, hopefully.

Think about it people. This is just a step to a long walk. After this Collaboration with Companies more and more animes would be available though it would take some time.
