Hmm, I've never seen it, but I'm surprised it beat out movies like "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" and "Spirited Away".

well, i've watched some portions of it when i'm scanning thru channels of our tv...guess, i'm not really into this kind of film. and i'm not a "noranian". but from what i heard from old folks, the movie is very very good. probably, i'll try to watch the whole movie it later to see whether it is really really good.

himala is not bad movie,i didn't really like it ,its an 'ok' movie for me kinda old but i think the story and nora aunor's acting did the job to make it to top one
Posted 11/19/08
the headline is misleading. cnn didn't pick the 'best.' it was a reader's poll and you could choose more than one movie as i had voted for himala as well as almost all the other choices.

as for himala, i don't doubt that it is a classic. it's theme i think still resonates very much in the philippine culture. the acting more than anything is up there with any holywood greats. but the list is a little tricky, i think they're all great in their own subgenres amd any one of those movie would have been very much deserving!

Although I am not a fan of Ms. Nora Aunor, I must say that HIMALA deserves the recognition. It was critically acclaimed when it was shown the first time and still is considered one of the best until now, it has made it's mark in the history of Philippine cinema.

himala is the epitome of "good quality classic movie"
Posted 11/19/08
there was a time that i though himala is the same movie where nora said "my brother is not a pig" lols.. i thought it goes like "walang himala, hndi baboy ang kapatid q" but that was ages ago.. i havent watched himala but old people say its really gud so maybe its worthy of winning..
